I personally am among the self refill folks. It is definitely a time saver. I am an RN and totally understand both sides of the fence here. If you think about it, if you have to stand in a long line for 15 min to get a refill, you are just as likely to come in closer contact with other people/germs as you would in a high touch area filling your own cup. In the current day of frequent hand washing and hand sanitizer, the overall risk of refilling your own cup is much less than it was a year ago. In lieu of working a FT cast members to fill drink cups, maybe Disney could have a “sanitation station” near the drink refill area where guests could obtain a food handler plastic glove to use if they are uncomfortable touching high touch areas. Either that, or post that FT employee who used to be filling cups near the drink refill self serve area to wipe them down every 5-10 minutes. Regardless, allowing guests to refill their own cups is more efficient in moving traffic along (decreasing close contact in waiting lines) and minimizing additional delays caused by waiting for a drink refill.
I have never understood the need to limit self-service from the beginning. Early, early, on, the CDC posted guidelines that the chance on infection from inanimate objects was low. The CDC has further clarified those recommendations to now say that routine cleaning with soap/water is accepted and that stringent disinfection was not needed. Even going as far as calling it “hygiene theater”.
I know that there will always be parents or individuals that will subscribe to their own beliefs and routines. I also imagine that this group is small compared to the general population. It sounds like Disney is making small steps in the right direction.
I think Disney recently said they spent 1 billion on this sort of heightened, and really unnecessary, level of sanitation. Actually, Disney did not spend it, because park visitors will pay for it in the form of higher prices.
We are so glad that they changed the refillable policy. I think they wasted more paper cups and time than you can imagine. It makes you see disney is trying to make things a little bit more normal, maybe things are finally moving in the right direction
If we don’t get back to getting exposed to germs on a regular basis, the next pandemic will be even worse. Germs are like exercising for your immune system.
Thank God they are starting to go back to some kind of normal. 6 foot distancing was changed to 3 foot so when will Disney go to that? That would make lines not stretch out as far as they do now. Do away with masks when outside. It’s time to move forward, isn’t that what the vaccine was supposed to do?
Another dumb idea that needed to be done with. I mean really! If you are afraid of a drink station. Don’t use it. We really have to stop being afraid of other human beings.
I think it’s past due that people are able to get their own drink at a drinking station and learn not to be afraid of other human beings. For those that are afraid, they can opt to not get a refillable cup. It’s really that simple.

That’s why everyone was so healthy and never died young of diseases before vaccinations or other advances in society.

Except polio and measles, and the flu still kills people.
Vaccines are exercising your immune system…… Don’t be dense.

I just want them to bring back the dining plans and some if the character experiences.
