No I would not. My family already had it and recovered. No vaccine needed. The CDC has compiled enough data now to put out a report a couple of weeks ago to say that it would be almost impossible to get it again.
Covid is here to stay. Variants are going to keep coming. It’s mRNA based, so it is prone to high mutations rates like the flu every year. Just like flu shots the immunization you get will be hit and miss. The Covid vaccine is not made at all like the flu shot or other vaccines though, and that concerns me.
What about folks that cannot take the new, experimental vaccine, or those that don’t feel comfortable taking it? Also, there is starting to be what’s called “breakout” cases of the virus all over the country (not in mass numbers, but it IS happening). Meaning, people that have been fully vaccinated can still get the virus – and pass it along to others. Has there been any reports of virus cases being traced back to DW? Since DW re-opened in July, I have not heard of any. I’ve been to DW twice already since they re-opened – July and December. I did not get sick either time. (And I was not sick before leaving home to go there).
I am retired military and have had A LOT of vaccinations. I am also very sick. After extensive allergy testing, I found out I am allergic to various vaccine components and preservatives. Is there a relationship? I do not know, but going to Disney is not worth the risk of getting sicker.
Get rid of the mask requirement, bring back the perks that have been eliminated, and then I’ll come back. I went for two days with the mask and struggled to breath. I did not see the the places where you could take it off. Gave up my annual pass, it is not worth the money.
A vaccine passport would violate HIPAA so not a reality unless they are getting rid of HIPAA but other countries could enact it just can’t see how this works in USA
No – it would not violate HIPAA. HIPAA requires medical providers to keep your information private. It does NOT prevent you from voluntarily sharing your vaccine (or other) information with a theme park.
Your are volunteering to go to a business that requires it. So you in fact are volunteering.
Vac Passports is a Hell Yeah from me…and I can’t get a vacs in my state till 4/20…counting the days till my appt. Couldn’t be happier ☺️
Absolutely I’d keep coming to WDW. In fact, knowing everyone has been vaccinated would build confidence the resort hasn’t become a petri dish. I don’t think this will happen though. Disney would lose massive numbers of guests until enough become vaccinated and have it recorded. I also feel a paper based system is too vulnerable to fraud. My wife and I plan to visit Europe once it re-opens. You can bet proof of vaccination will be required for entry. And no, if an entertainment industry wants it’s patrons vaccinated it does not violate HIPA.
Actually, getting the vaccine makes you a petri dish. This is just the calm before the storm. The vaccine is making people more vulnerable to the new strains and it is more harmful than helpful.
Agreed. Does no one remember the measles outbreak in 2014 that came from two unvaccinated people with measles at Disneyland? 100,000 infections were traced back to that those 2 unvaccinated but (at the time) symptomless sick people.
Yes I would. Vaccine passports help decrease the chances of giving Covid-19. Although, Florida Gov. DeSantis’ opinion about vaccine passports kind of makes it harder for Florida to get back to normal.
It’s about getting back to normalcy. A vaccine requirement could help get rid of masks. Park attendance could increase. Lines made shorter. Full line of entertainment to return. It’s not about self interest “I’m safe/others can take a risk”. Risks need to be reduced for everyone.
Has nothing to do with self interest, nice try though. Chris simply stated he would be more likely to go if everyone was required to be vaccinated. And I’ll ask it again . . . why? If Chris is vaccinated, Chris is protected! Chris shouldn’t have to worry about if everybody else is too. The only thing this shows is how much faith Chris puts into the vaccine. 🙂
The vaccines do not mean you can not get the virus. Have you not been seeing in the news recently reports of “breakout” cases around the country? It’s not a lot, right now, but it’s expected to get higher. The ONLY thing that the CDC and vaccine makers say for sure about these vaccines is that they will (hopefully) prevent you from winding up in the hospital and/or getting very sick if you do get infected. And please, let’s not forget those that got seriously injured and/or died after receiving the vaccine. The CDC, media, pharma companies do not like advertising that fact.
While it is reported that over 1000 people have died from the vaccine, if the media spent as much time noting that 95-98% of people who get COVID will be just fine instead of just death stories, this country and Disney could have avoided the nightmare we have been put through in the last year.
Same. The more people who are vaccinated – the more it makes is safer for people who cannot be vaccinated because of illness or allergy. It is a public health issue. Presumably Disney would have exemptions for people who are medically certified as not able to take the vaccine. I am also thinking of all those immunosuppressed children who visit Disney as part of Make A Wish. Why put them and their families at risk when they are already dealing with so much.
There’s a huge difference between your examples and Covid. You aren’t going to give HIV to someone just standing next to them in line. Covid is an airborne contagion. Standing in line for thirty minutes with Covid is a risk to all the people within a few feet of you.
Please tell me that you know the difference between how HIV and COVID-19 are transmissible…that is not in any way an accurate comparison. Also, as far as riding a roller coaster when you are pregnant, that is risk that you are taking for yourself and your unborn child–not risking the health of anyone else around you.
Requiring a vaccine passport is setting up a class system that is NO DIFFERENT than having a separate fountain for whites and colored.
Don’t forget the ‘vaccine’ is actually still experimental. There are many people who are sincerely concerned about the long term effect of a shot, that part has not been fully tested, for an illness that has been proven to be not as deadly as the flu.
And remember, unlike other vaccines, you’re not allowed to sue the manufacturer and developers if something does go wrong.
And, do you really want bug tech to have access to your medical records? All your medical records? It very well may be, or become in the near future, a hippa violation. Scotus will probably have to get involved.
Lifelong fan of all things Disney but if vaccine passports were to become required our family would not go back. We are relatively certain that we had COVID before it was popular and recovered without needing a vaccine and some of us with other significant underlying health conditions such as asthma and a heart condition. To each his own but not for our family.
No, not interested at all in the passport. If they do require this passport, our days for visiting disney are over. I guess that would be one way to control crowds and letting the government know where you or been like they want, but I think in the long run disney would lose money big time.
I have been going to Disney World since 1972. I will not go again until all the covid restrictions are lifted. I also wish Disney would stop being so politically correct. The park is for families to have fun period. No politics, no gulag rules, no being offended by Peter Pan, its a cartoon!!
I wish people would leave all that at the front entrance, let your inner 12 year old loose, and just have fun.
NO! I will NOT be getting the shot at this time, I do not like how we are being pushed into taking something that’s in it’s experimental stage. Even the wording in the FDA backs this up. We should be able to choose whether we get it just like any other vaccine. Such as the flu, pneumonia etc. and if the shot works then those who already got it should be “safe” from those that choose not to get it.
If they were required, of course I would. I LOVE Disneyland and I miss it. Heck, I pay their prices, there’s not much more they could throw at me to keep me away.
It would make me a lot more likely to go back. Knowing that Disney is being responsible and limiting my risk makes me love them even more.
Honestly, some of the arguments against don’t really make sense. Requiring HIV tests? Creates a class system? HIPPA violations? You fundamentally do not understand HIPPA if you think that. And it’s not a “class system” when it’s being offered for free to everyone. And there are plenty of other places that require proof of vaccination, School, Travel to foreign countries, etc. Disney is private property and just like Shoes, Shirts, and Masks, they have the right to set their own requirements to access the property.
I also think we need to see where this thing is down the road. Between a ton of people already having the virus (natural antibodies) and a ton of people being vaccinated, we will probably (hopefully) get to herd immunity, and thus, no future need for medical “papers.” This “let me see your papers please” smacks of something not good for the future of society.
No, I would not travel to Disney World!! I would cancel the pass I have had for over 22 years. This is nuts!! They have no idea how long this vaccine protects you…3 months, 6 months a year?? I’ve already had COVID..do I get an immune pass? Oh wait, you can get it again they say. You still can get and give COVID to someone who has had the vaccine. Wake up!
No, I wouldn’t. If vaccine passports ever become a requirement to fly or visit Disney etc I guess I won’t be traveling anymore. If passports are created, they need to take into account people who beat covid already & show antibodies.
I would be much more likely to go if Disney required vaccine passports! I think it’s a great idea, based in science, and it would make reasonable people feel much more comfortable going to a crowed theme park. It’s also a way to start lessening restrictions, begin opening more attractions, and just getting back to sense of normality.
Caring for your health and the health of others during a global pandemic isn’t political, it’s moral.
Funny how people have a problem with vaccine passports but no issue with voter ID laws that disenfranchise certain voting blocks. When I was kid I had my vaccine card which was hand written.
Those same people don’t even blink an eye at the fact private insurance companies keep a database they share with each other of your entire medical history. Pre-existing conditions were one of the many reasons to not ensure you.
Disney will do as Disney will do. When you think about it, they’ve already invaded your space and know every movement you make on their property. Hello, magic bands which are enabled to take pictures on a ride even when you had not signed up for that ride as a fast pass before this pandemic hit. They enter your room for “security” measures to check. But if they want to enforce this too, then so be it. People will still flock to that place until they finally realize they are nothing but a dollar sign. Look how many are going right now, having to wear masks, entertainment non existent, no fireworks, no meeting characters, and they are still flocking. Spending thousands of dollars for a quarter of the experience. Not to mention having to stay glued to their electronic devices for the Disney app all day. Disney has been going down for years, and yet, here everyone is still going. So glad I quit drinking the Disney Kool-aid a couple of years ago.
Absolutely not! A virus with a 97% recovery rate and with therapies that work even better than the vaccine makes the vaccine useless especially considering this vaccine was rushed and did not go through the normal trials. This is totally ridiculous. Disney needs to get off their pedestal as they do not make the laws.
Considering there is another post on this site saying the DeSantis banned them in the state I think all the arguments for or against are moot at this point in time: insidethemagic.net/2021/04/florida-governor-bans-vaccine-passports-ks1/
I totally disagree with the passport, the vaccine is experimental, you can still get the virus. What baffles me is that hundreds of thousands of people all over die of the flu, nobody says anything about that, the flags don’t fly at half mask. I would love to know how many people honestly do research on this whole thing and watching the news does not count as research. People have died and have really been effected in a bad way due to the vaccine, but they’re not going to report that on the news. Here’s another thing you don’t here much about China and COVID anymore just saying
What will be really interesting is to see how many total deaths there were in 2020 vs prior years. I’m betting there wasn’t a significant difference, yet the government and the complicit media worked everyone up to hysteria. The lockdowns and keeping kids out of school did more harm to way more people than this virus.
I recently read a report stating Covid-19 was the third highest cause of death last year in the US. Although percentage wise it may seem small (something like a 6 or 7%) mortality rate, it’s still very significant. I haven’t seen what the mortality rate is in under developed countries, but I’m sure it’s much higher.
Holding children back from school played a key role in keeping the percentages down. Since many of our children could be asymptomatic carriers of the virus the risks were too high to let them pass the virus around our communities and overload hospitals with a large group of severely infected people. 2020 was a tuff year, no doubt. I’m glad we’re now developing vaccines helping us get back to normal.
I was more interested in total numbers. I since did some reading and the CDC states that Covid-19 deaths in 2020 were 312,000 (which is lower than how the states and local governments count). In 2019 there were 8.7 deaths per 1000 people and in 2020 it was 9.7 per 1000. I’ve been vaccinated but think that with a 98% survival rate and these numbers, a vaccine passport is not needed.
He can not enforce the ban on private property…. he can only really control it on government property due to private property rights. What he has actually done is ban the passports on government properties and basically told the private business not to require them or they will be punished…. those private properties that go against his wishes will be punished by not being able to get grants and state aid. You can actually go online and read his full executive order. What he’s actually doing here is interfering with private property rights and should be against the law. Private businesses should be able to run things how they want without government interference.
If disney did make the decision to require them I suspect they will do what they want to anyway with or without the govenors blessing. They don’t need his grant money and have lawyers will defend their right to make their own choices on their property. I don’t think that Disney will require them though since the cost of the verification technology is going to be costly. I suspect they will just continue to require masks and other accommodations until the CDC says those are no longer needed.
You say that the state government can’t force what a business requires on their private property but that conflicts with what I witnessed this past year. Federal, State, and local governments imposed many unconstitutional requirements and did everything from close businesses, dictate how many can be in their business, require masks, shut down weddings, funerals, church services and of course schools. They did this with the courts turning a blind eye to the Bill of rights and constitution. There is no question in my mind that the State of Florida and their many agencies can wreak havoc on Disney or any other business that doesn’t go along. Florida just happens to be fortunate to not have a governor like I do in Michigan. Where we have severe lockdowns, mask mandates, schools closed, and virus stats not any better than the states with less intrusive rules and lockdowns.
Disney needs to change its name so that we can have the memory of what Disney used to be and then just move forward under the new company which is really nothing what Walt created.
No I would not. The vaccine may or may not make the symptoms of Covid-19 less harmful or more harmful. The Covid-19 vaccine will not prevent you from contracting or spreading Covid-19 to others who are vaccinated or not. It’s a joke.
Oh me oh my so many many options so many webs of confusion, no wonder just simply wearing a mask have been such a long and hard task for people to be safe .this situation reminds me of the tenth commandments when Moses went to the mountains and came back down to see the people in such disorder, confusion and not believing in the well of God ,I pray that we all get through this time doing it together.
Wearing a mask isn’t “simple” for me since I have asthma. Also, since the so-called brainiacs at the EPA allow chloramine (chlorine plus AMMONIA) instead of regular chlorine to disinfect tap water in more and more cities, I have now developed a sensitivity to my own sweat that I never had before exposure to chloramine. So if I sweat under a mask, my face will feel like it’s being burned with acid. I don’t want to “simply” burn, thank you. Also, please don’t ever equate the Bible which hasn’t changed (see the Dead Sea Scrolls) to 80-year-old Fauci who changes “science” so many times it makes your head spin. Lastly, how can we go thru this together when media people like Lester Holt endorsed one-sided reporting and said fairness is overrated?
No. I love Disney but I’m done with it if they require a vaccine passport. My body, my choice. If you’re vaccinated you’re safe. So stay out of everyone else’s private health business.
No. Such a disgusting violation of people’s basic human rights to privacy and to not have mystery substances injected into your body against your will. Not only am I against it on moral principle (it being made of aborted babies,) I have severe anaphylaxis history and couldn’t get it if I wanted to. For what.. I know hundreds of ppl across the country and only know ONE elderly, unhealthy person who even supposedly had it (quickly recovered) and not even a distant friend of a friend who died of it.
I would absolutely go if a passport was required. I think it would be a great idea to have passport requirements for indoor dining or drinking establishments. I noticed that quite a few restaurants are closed at disneyland park. This would make reopening those establishments much easier. A plus no screaming children.

Yes, this!! I’m sorry you are going through that Paula. Please find a good functional medicine doctor to bind all those toxins out of your body.

Then why are there people that have caught it more than once? I personally know two people that have had it twice.
Candless
One would imagine on any subsequent bouts of it, it would be a lot less severe since their bodies were already prepared to fight it.

Governor DeSantis has banned companies or government offices in the state for even asking for such a document, should they become available.

A big NO!
That would be a deal breaker for me.
Angela Tienda
Yes, I most certainly would. I believe that we should all respect theses laws and requests just as any others. People are dying. Hello
SG
YES! Absolutely.

Michelle

Yes! I wish they would have the vaccine passports. It gives people piece mind. I wish the vaccines could be mandated.
Nan
No. I love Disney but I’m done with it if they require a vaccine passport. My body, my choice. If you’re vaccinated you’re safe. So stay out of everyone else’s private health business.
Kalie
Disney Gal
Absolutely!
Brie
No. I would not go.
inga
No. I am going with my kids now in 5 days before that requirement comes for that very reason.
Julia
I would absolutely go if a passport was required. I think it would be a great idea to have passport requirements for indoor dining or drinking establishments. I noticed that quite a few restaurants are closed at disneyland park. This would make reopening those establishments much easier. A plus no screaming children.
