The way I see it, the path of least resistance here would be to simply remove the native figures and leave the rest alone. Most people barely even notice them anyways. It doesn’t really make sense to change the entire ride because of a 3 second scene.

    1. No

Yeah let’s remove all native figures, by saying that they just want everyone to be white, that’s racist. Keep the natives, it’s another culture, nothing wrong with that

  2. If America does not reign in cancel culture soon, it will erase many disney produced items (attractions, films, merchandise (splash mountain), etc.), books, and thought. Disney has bowed the knee to them before, so will they eliminate native Americans from Peter Pan’s flight? They were in the film. Eliminating them from the ride can also be seen as discrimination (depending on your perspective). Small World will probably be next. Someone in cancel culture will complain about how some children are portrayed. Screaming sterotypical!!!

    1. CJA

I don’t think it’s Cancel Culture to be more realistic or sensitive, but Tiger Lily was a part of the original play from the perspective of a UK of 100 years ago. We need to talk about how much we’ve learned in the years and that’s why we become educated. Soon it will be Alice in Wonderland because the Caterpillar smokes.

      1. Pricella Leavers

It is Cancel Culture. Removing movies off Disney + … Reimaging rides at all Disney parks … Removing Dr. Seuss books … Removing Mr. Potato head??? Seriously this is going to far. Native Americans are part of our history. We should be teaching our children the mistakes we made as a country in the past and how we are changing our future, not erasing our past all together! … and final note … Peter Pan is friends with the Indians, evens saves Princess Tiger Lily, Where is the problem? Next the Leprechaun from Lucky Charms head will be on the block! The Irish are totally offended … LOL 🙂

    2. Kathy Pulliam

Peter Pan is a fun ride. One of the first rides i ever went on. In 1960 i had my 5th birthday there. I was so magical something ill never forget! There is nothing wrong with Peter Pans ride. Disney you need to stop letting up tight fun killing joyless empty cold hearted people in this world from beating you down, and pushing you around. We need the magic and the laughter and just the imaginations of Disney.

  3. EricJ

Wait, we talked about what a “neat idea” it was (without saying why), and now it’s “possible”?
Any more “reality” you want to type up at your keyboard?

  4. Aj

Just stack the deleted parts in back by the confederate monuments.

    1. Gibby

Stop, stop stop the insanity. Leave the ride alone. It is a children’s story. It is time to leave the Disney classics be.
      Thanks so much.

  5. Earl Knowles

How many people are actually complaining? It seems that whenever a handful of people tweet their outrage over something, Disney and other corporations cave in to their demands. The majority of us just want to go to a park and not be blasted with everyone’s political and social grievances. If you don’t like a book don’t read it, don’t like a movie don’t watch it, don’t like a ride do ride it. People need to stop forcing their views and opinions on the rest of us. We just want to live in peace and go to the “Happiest Place on Earth”!

    1. I agree 100%! Earl, I could not have said it better.
I make the decision on what “offends” me. I do NOT need or want someone telling me what ” should be offensive to me”.
      Disney..stay out of politics!

    2. DisneyFan

I agree 100%! We go to Disney parks to have fun and be care-free! People need to stop bringing political nonsense into this and leave the classics the hell alone. Same for Splash Mountain..if you don’t like it, don’t ride it but stop trying to ruin it for everyone else!

      1. Stacy Martin

This is ridiculous. Enough is enough. Stop the insanity! Not everything is offensive. If you don’t like it don’t ride it. Leave the classics alone!

    3. Adam Smith

Must be weird to live in a world where (1) only a small minority of people think this is offensive and simultaneously (2) Disney, a multi-billion dollar corporation has no ability to make its own decisions because of this tiny, tiny mob. I support Disney’s right to operate their business and manage their intellectual property in the way they think best. As some guy said on an internet comment section once, if you don’t like it, you can always stay home.

    4. Terry

      Earl….perfectly said!! ? accurate!!

    5. Pricella Leavers

AGREE AGREE AGREE!!!! Thank you for being a voice of reason.
Disneyland should be a land without politics…. just family’s, fantasy and fun! It’s were we go to leave the political and social drama behind! Keep Disney Magical ?❤️?not political.

  6. Rich

OMG! WHEN IS THIS GONNA STOP ALREADY!

  7. CRY BABY RABEL ROUSING IDIOTS ARE GETTING THEIR WAY WAY TOO MUCH IN THIS SCREWED UP AMERICA AND IT’S A SLIPPERY SLOPE, BUT I WILL NEVER SUBMIT TO THIS BAFFOONERY TO LET THESE WUSS DEMOCRATS WIN!

    1. Baby Huey

I see a lot of crying but it seems to be coming from you…

      1. Linda McCoy

Leave the classics alone, these were walt Disney’s dreams. I’m 73 years old and grew up watching these classics. People are right one person cries because they don’t like one thing about the movies and the corporate gives in. Walt’s dream was to take us to a place of magic and make believe. Stop listening to the cry babies and go back to continuing Walt’s dream. To many things have been changed because it offended someone, get over it. Uncle Ben , Land of lakes Butte were all changed because one person was offended. Well I’m offended you are crushing my happiness. KNOCK IT OFF.

        1. brighter

If changes to the packaging for parcooked rice and butter are crushing your happiness, you might want to consult a professional.

    2. Gary Peters

I want to know why people have torn apart everything including Disney cartoons just to find racism Get a life you can’t change history. How about this would it be ok with everyone if they made the next Black Panther a white actor under the costume after all the Panther itself would still be Black, of course not all these same people would blow a heart valve BUT it’s OK for Black actors and actresses to be substitute actors for white characters instead of DEMANDING that Hollywood create New characters for them to shine in such as Black Panther and Soul

  8. Charles

    Please stop this insanity.

  9. Bryan

You know what Screw you Disney. Stop destroying Walt Disney”s legacy we live in the United States of America and you leftists are taking away everything that made western American culture patriotic and You Disney I am fed up with you and your stupid agenda. The magic of Disneyland is with Walt Disney”s legacy. If he was alive today he would be horrified by what you have become. I ask you do not screw with Peter Pan.

  10. TeaLee

I wouldn’t mind if they changed the ride. Not for the reason most people do though. I mean the racism scene in the ride is something that should be discussed.

But much like Splash Mountain it needs an update. Most people under 40 have never seen Song of the South. I barely remember seeing it in the theater.

Peter Pan also isn’t as popular as he use to be.

They could turn it into a Tinker Bell ride.

We could follow her from London as she guides a baby’s laugh to Never Land where it will be turned into a fairy.

The Ride would basically stay the same except the focus would be more on Never Land than the scenes from the movie.

    1. Kimberly Hayes

It’s a very popular ride and always a wait to ride. While the ride itself could use a little updating please let the original characters alone! It’s part of the story!!!

    2. Bryan

I took me 5 years to track down song of the south on dvd and I don”t see anything racist or wrong with it I will not summit to how leftist Disney has become. I personally think that Disney needs to get back to Walt Disney”s legacy not a this stupid left wing agenda. I will not comment after this post.

    3. Susan

Stop, stop, stop the insanity. Leave the ride alone. It is a classic children’s story. Stop destroying the classics. Enough

  11. B L M cause and effect rolling down hill snowballing going to He-double hockeysticks. enough said.

  12. What I find that will be ironic is after the changes to splash Mt., peter pan, jungle cruise and other attractions that a minority of guests complain about, that the price tag that Disney will have to shell out to change the rides will not be absorbed by Disney but will passed on to its guests in ticket, food, and merchandise increases and the loudest voice complaining will be the the groups that complained about the ride changes in the first place.

    1. DisneyFan

Agreed. Just leave them all alone!

  13. Tracy

Peter Pan is my favorite Disney movie, it has magic and adventure, it’s part of history, you can’t change history, you learn from it. Please don’t change the ride or the movie, leave Walt’s imagination alone, it’s part of the magic that we love about Disney…

  14. Sockey

As a native woman myself, I feel very conflicted about the situation. I understand that some people find the Indians in Peter Pan to be silly and drawn in a stereotypical way. On the other hand you don’t have many depictions of natives at all in Disney movies, and I don’t think erasing is the answer. When I was a child I loved Tiger Lily, and to me she was one of the Disney Princesses, and also native! In the books, which my mother read to us when we were kids, the Indians are much more dignified, cool, and some even lose their lives trying to protect the children from the Pirates. Flying over the native Village was one of my favorite parts of the ride as a child. It was that little tiny piece of something that was showing Native Americans. So I loved it. I wish instead of cutting them out of the ride, or cutting those scenes from the movie, maybe they could re draw and edit the scenes so that they were less offensive?

  15. Kathy Johnson

Why don’t you just kick Walt Disney out of Walt Disney World and the other parks too! You could make a new land called “correct land”.

I noticed last time I was at WDW that Mickey Mouse Cartoons have been kicked out and this new stylized version has taken over.
Wake up! The reason that Walt Disney is so successful is because he was a genius. Your watered down version is going to put the parks on a “Universal level”. (Meaning that it isn’t as good)
Stop it and go somewhere else if you think you are so right about changing everything Disney. I challenge you to create another park somewhere else, that is up to your “standards”. DisneyWorld as it is would crush your new park! If it’s not broken… DON’T FIX IT!!!

  16. Trent

And we’re supposed to all be worried about the world burning up from global warming in 9 years? At this point I’m starting to question if the greater tragedy would be if it doesn’t.

  17. Jack

This is my favorite Disney ride. So simple and classic and beautiful. A real piece of magic.

Nothing offensive here (the movie is a different matter). LEAVE IT ALONE

  18. Terry

Get a grip Disney! After all is said and done, it’s a small minority of liberal loons who support the ‘cancel culture.’ Everything Disney is a reminder of the sweetness and goodness of childhood and the innocence that surrounds it. If Disney starts removing bits of characters and story lines here and there, eventually nobody will recognize the stories nor recall the feel of childhood….the exact thing that keeps us adults returning to Disney Parks over and over again…with our children and then grandchildren! Don’t cave to the loud mouth snowflakes who probably don’t spend money on Disney anyway!

  19. It is my opinion that we have become a “Cancel Culture” which directly goes against the “All Inclusive” rhetoric everywhere. Leave Peter Pan Alone; yes there were Native American’s (Indians) in the movie, it is real, they exist!! Peter Pan did not spin this into a bad thing, they were friends in the movie … What’s the problem?

    1. Elizabeth

      We don’t look like that.

  20. EM

Who starts these rumors? As soon as one rumor stops another one starts up. People are just checking EVERY ride to find something they deem offensive. Cancel culture needs to be canceled!

  21. Jake N.

Walt Disney said, “Disneyland will never be completed, as long as there is imagination left in the world.” He intended for it to change. This whole notion of “keeping the classics” motif is totally contrary to his vision about moving forward. It’s not about keeping the past.

    1. S

Well I’m sorry, but Walt is dead and when he died the idea that Disneyland will never be completed died with him. Hate to break it to you but there isn’t any imagination left in the world. Disneyland was officially completed in 1995 after the opening of Indiana Jones. That quote is not one of the Ten Commandments that must be obeyed. There is nothing wrong with keeping Disneyland the same or bringing back old attractions.

    2. DisneyFan

Walt ALSO said “I don’t want the public to see the world they live in while they’re in the Park (Disneyland). I want to feel they’re in another world.” …leave politics out of the parks. It’s supposed to be fun, leave the classics alone! If you don’t like it, don’t ride it. Period.

  22. Elizabeth

Speaking as a Cherokee woman, it would be really nice to have them represented respectfully. Its not like it would take much.

I’d also like to see Pocahontas changed in Fantasmic, but you can see how much we mean to the public in these comments.

    1. Robert

Honestly, with Disneyland changing their Fantasmic in 2017, I don’t think Disney World is far behind in being updated. And yes I do believe that section would be changed.

  23. Bren

Kind of busting into laughter on my end. Seeing so many “conservatives” losing their mess on here is hilarious. You’re right, the leftists have so many petitions going to “cancel” every single thing you hold so dear to your heart! Actually, “libs” or “leftists” are concerned over trying to fight for equality for all, not just the “conservatives” who have no better comeback than to name call. Human rights for all should be the norm by now, but as we’ve all seen lately, it’s not even close. But truthfully, I have not seen all these “leftists” demanding rides be changed. Actually just like the Seuss Foundation, they are doing it on their own. Not because there are these “secret” petitions going around to screw your happiness up. Oh wait, I get it! As long as you are getting your way, it’s okay, and if anyone else feels different than you, it’s not okay! HMMM, and by the way, “cancel culture” was actually started long ago by conservative Christians…Million Moms a conservative Christian group established in 1977. But glad to know only your feelings count in this world! Keep on going off the deep end because I sure do need the laughs!

    1. Gregg

You are Exactly what’s going wrong with our country. Ignorant about reality. Should I whine and complain because I was called every Italian and Polish stereotype known? Who cares.. Grow up.. Life isn’t perfect or fair. If people like you had a clue most of our kids wouldn’t be whiney and unable to function in the real world. You can’t eliminate everything because there is always at least someone offended.

      1. Bren

You are showing the exact mentality I’m writing about. LOL! I don’t care about the small things as a person. I don’t care about the freaking potato head controversy, don’t care about the ride controversy, but evidently a lot of you have your panties in a bunch over some silly stuff instead of worrying about the real, true problems in this country. See it’s not cancel culture, but you are being distracted by so many little things which you’re being baited with. This way you don’t focus on the bigger things and make this country better. Keep fighting over silly toys, rides, how businesses run, keep thinking the “libs” are the “cancel culture”, but I’m not the one who cancelled my Disney + when they fired Gina or changed how to access my movies! So no dear, I’m not the problem, the people who think like you are the problem. Your anger, their anger shines bright! Maybe it’s time to realize with time comes evolution, and things change. You may want to stay in the past, but I prefer to keep moving forward with progress in all areas. So actually you need to “grow up” because I already know life isn’t fair or perfect, but which is why changes come about. I don’t need to “grow up” since I am already entering the last phases of my life. I may have twenty years tops left on this earth. So your assumption I’m young is quite off the mark. And I’m not quite sure why people wanting others to be treated with decency, to not be judged on the different colors of their skin, their religion is assumed to be someone who is young and innocent is such a bad thing. So thank you for proving my point with your comment. And thanks for the laugh with “people like you” portion. Made my day. Guess I better go start some secret petitions to “cancel” more things. With time comes progress, with progress comes change whether anyone likes it or not.

  24. Gregg

What planet did I suddenly wake up on? Has anyone else noticed how when people complain about how upset they get or are offended by something, they AREN’T even the actual people or race depicted in what they are complaining about? I don’t hear Indians(Native Americans) (That came from Asia in case you are ignorant of history and the truth) complaining,, soooo ” let it go” .. Sorry.. Elsa must be cancelled next because she lives where there is White snow… Does anyone see how ridiculous this has become??

  26. Tyler

Can we just reimagine tiger lily and keep her in there? It’s not canceling her or messing with the story or even the way the ride is. Why can’t the natives be reimagined and kept in?
