Although the black officer in Onward talking about her “girlfrien'” was never specifically confirmed either, except for a lot of wishful-thinking fans saying “Well, she SHOULD be!”
And Judy’s two loud neighbors in Zootopia had ZERO onscreen evidence whatsoever, apart from the same representation-hungry wishful-thinking that two male roommates would never, ever share a city apartment for any other reason.

And disclaimer, folks: Remember, Kelly was just making it up about Raya out of her hinder.

Sure, it’s not canon that Raya is gay, but if that is how the actress played or interpreted the character, then who cares. Its the same as Johnny Depp saying he play Captain Jack as a flamboyant gay person.

I don’t know why people looking for more representation than Disney is giving at the moment is an issue. Straight people have all the representation they could ever dream of. You have Double Dan from RBTI, and the angry mob from Beauty and the Beast.

If the shoe was on the other foot, and you weren’t represented as the norm, then you would be complaining about the lack of representation. So maybe look at coming at these articles with empathy, instead of your constant complaining about diversity…

Except that they don’t WANT their “own” representation. They want the representation that belongs to other, more popular people and properties who get more marketing and press.
They don’t want to see “new gay characters”, they want to see rewrites of Elsa, Finn, Captain America and every retro cartoon character as LGBT, so they can click selfie shots next to it, and tell the rest of the world “See, SEE??”

That’s not called “A search for Representation”, that’s called “Jealousy”, and it’s a very popular practice among the petty.
And if you happen to be the kind whose self-image says “I just can’t appreciate a fictional character unless he/she’s JUST LIKE ME!”…count yourself one of them.

I mean, you complain about them not wanting original LGBT characters, but then you perform a bunch of mental gymnastics to try and convince yourself that the woman from Onward (an original character) who specifically mentions her GIRLFRIEND isn’t LGBT….I honestly don’t know you so I can’t say for sure, but you honestly just come off as a bigot trying to justify his bigotry. Just say that gay people make you uncomfortable and that uncomfortable feeling makes you angry. You don’t have to do this while justification crusade trying to convince everyone that you are in the right when you are clearly grasping at any straw you can to enforce your own intolerance.
