We were booked at All Star Movies the week of April 11th and got our call about a Grand Floridian upgrade on Sunday. I was so surprised I started tearing up a bit.
Guess we should stop booking at the moderate level and book value resorts. Doesn’t make good business sense to move those from the value resorts all the way up to deluxe. They stand a better chance of giving the moderate level guests a bump up, let them have a taste of the deluxe level, and perhaps they book deluxe next time. It would typically be the case that a moderate level guest would be more likely to be able to afford a deluxe resort in the future rather than a value level guest.
That is wonderful for those that received this offer. It would be even more wonderful if Disney would start making better business decisions so that they can begin to bring back some of the “magic” that they have taken away from ALL of the guests in order to save money.

Talk about someone who looks down on those not on your level. I stay a value resorts because I have a 3 year old who loves the resorts. I’ve stayed at deluxe resorts many times but prefer the value cause it feels more “magical”. Good job thinking you’re better than others.

I guess you think you’re better than those people cause you spent 3x the amount with no additional perks other than a pool and a little bigger room that you spend 1/4 of your trip in. I prefer the value cause it does add a little more magic than any of the deluxe we’ve stayed at.
It would be nice if they could have honoured the discount that UK guests got for losing the DDP they paid for, but, couldn’t use because we can’t travel to the US at the moment. I was initially thrilled to get the massive 35% discount, but, not so thrilled to have to cancel and then get a ‘tough luck’ attitude from Disney.
I am hoping to be able to go back to WDW in December, but, will have to pay full whack. I’m happy for the ASMov guests getting that upgrade, but, my discount would cost Disney a lot less to honour than the upgrade would have and I know a lot of UK guests feel the same way as me.

It also has to do with the fact that ask star guests in the Fantasia section came back from the parks with FLOODED rooms, like and inch of water everywhere, all over the building. I’m sure they have closed down that specific building for repairs!

I got this call this morning that we had been upgraded from All Star Movies to Grand Floridian! I started tearing up at work when she said it was “just a little pixie dust”. I felt like a little girl in a candy store, I was so giddy I couldn’t wait to surprise my husband with the news!
Yep, booked Coronado in February for 4 nights and the Disney Visa rate and got the call they moved us to the Grand Floridian at no charge! It was the best!
Wow, congratulations to everyone who received an upgrade! Enjoy and have a magical time! My husband and I are going June 25-July 5, staying at POP! Fingers crossed we are lucky enough to get pixie dusted!
Overall a good stay and is sufficient for nights. Ambiance: Fantastic complete ethic look and village fare is add on at very reasonable price you can enjoy lot of activities. Food: Quality is good though taste is average, which you would remember as a typical Rajasthani food and can be better. Hospitality: Extremely courteous staff and very helpful. the village has good handicrafts and all items are at very reasonable price.
Received a call from Disney Destinations this afternoon that my wife and I were upgraded from Pop Century to the Cars Suite at Art of Animation for our trip 5-11 to 5-18
This happened to me in 2010 , upon check in at POFC we were notified of our complimentary upgrade to GF. They even paid for our taxi over there. At the time they said they needed to “rebalance” capacity. Best trip ever !
