I can’t see it done without the original girls. I know both are older but it can be done. And it SHOULD be done. Idina got more popular from Frozen. And did you see KC’s new Popular OMG

I’m not holding my breath on upcoming musicals made to films these days. While I couldn’t care less for Disney Studios, Universal already botched a musical back in 2019 winter with their very forgettable box office bomb CATS. Will Universal bomb this one next?

If you’re wondering WHY we’ve gotten so many Oz movies in the last ten years–not to mention Frozen and Tim Burton’s Alice that thought there were “sister rivalries” between the main characters–that’s because Universal, which produced the musical on stage, has been threatening to make it forever, and every other producer has been trying to beat them to the modern-Oz movie punch.

Movie versions can’t be done until the stage show is considered “expendable”, which is why it’s taken so long.
Looks like Universal’s going for the “Hamilton, not Cats” approach this time, and Disney’s “We want another Hamilton, just like the old days” bid is giving them both incentive to just MAKE the darn thing already.
