I don’t think Epic Universe will end up totally abandoned – Universal has said that they still intend to open the park at some point. At the same time, I don’t think it’s going to be fully realized for a long while; first, the economy needs to be in the right spot to make a new theme park a sensible investment, and in these circumstances, that means either being close to the end of the pandemic or out of it entirely. There’s also the possibility that it may be significantly reworked so as to appeal to as many demographics as possible. How To Train Your Dragon has its fans, and rightfully so, but I never hear it mentioned in the same breath as many other Universal properties. It’s too early to tell either way, but I’m still holding out hope — mostly because I don’t want to have to travel to Japan to experience Super Nintendo World.
I live in Orlando. This is not dubai epic universe will likely start rebuilding in 2022 and open in2025. Universal is going to want either a 3rd park or bring some pieces to its current park. All about the money. The vaccine will likely return tourism back to this area by 2022.
Orlando is one of the tourism capitals of the world, thanks to amazing theme parks, and the millions of yearly guests that frequent them. A 4th park is needed from UO to grab some dollars from the big guys a few miles down the road. I say the new addition will just be delayed. This area is starting to boom again, tourists are coming back, it’s getting bussier here, and Covid-19 vaccines will only help.
