Disney prefers the words “physical distancing” instead of “social distancing.”

    1. JustJessee

Because it’s about physically distancing yourself from others. You can still be social 6 feet away.

    2. JustJessee

Didn’t mean for that to come off rudely. I think we should all switch over to saying physical distancing, for the previously stated reasons. Especially to ease the back on the idea that precautionary measures like distancing, masks, and less indoor activities with groups is some evil mandate to force isolation and take away the ability to connect with friends/family. You can still do that…. 6 feet away, masked, and preferably outdoors (weather permitting)

Went to Disney world a little before Thanksgiving and there is 0 social distancing…there is no way they can enforce that. They were literally at capacity and most lines were very, very long. Also unless you are in front of a cm there is no way they can enforce the mask policy either …although this policy is more stringent. I definitely won’t be back until we can go mask free.

I’ve had the opposite anecdotal experiences at Disney.

There are bad eggs who flaunt the mask policy, but they are the exceptions to the rule. The non-distances are often just oblivious and all it takes is eye contact, then pointing to the ground where the lines are then eye contact again. 9 times out of 10 they get it and back off. You don’t have to be rude about it, but you should bring it up rather than leaving it all to CMs.

But everyone has their own feelings on what they want to deal with at Disney, they’re all valid personal feelings.

I am not bringing my family until the mask requirement is removed. Period. We can distance, no problem, but the mask has to go.Hoping this happens in the next few months as every vulnerable person who wants to be vaccinated ,is.

Thanks for letting me know you won’t be there. It will be nice to be able to visit knowing that you aren’t in the area.

      1. Covid kills – in one year more Americans have lost their lives than died in WWII – I don’t know if you have watched someone die of Covid – but they suffocate – it looks nothing what so ever like a heart attack or a stroke or anything else – Disney is doing the right thing

        1. Bro you crazy my wife works at one of the theme parks and comes home every day covid free the covid numbers are inflated its total nonsense

Why do cars have to social distance in the parking lots at theme parks? I understand social distancing of people, cars not so much.

Let me explain. There is a certain segment of the population who has made not wearing a mask a political statement about their rights. Since these very people who do not care about their health much less the health of others are getting out of their car next you, Disney is taking precautions. Disney is a private business which can dictate the rules within their business. This is not a violation of your civil rights but a fact. The only reason we go to Disney right are due the extra efforts they take to make us feel safe.

Lastly, as told by a Disney employee to a group of people who took off their masks. You are required to wear your mask on Disney property till you get into your car.

If you do not wish to comply please stay home. There are others who know the efficacy of wearing a mask as proven by 21 different studies.

Well said, and the absolute truth!

Manny, My wife and I have been back to WDW many times since they have reopened and they are not spacing the parking like said in this story. Returning to my truck there are other vehicles on all sides where possible.

Bah bah bah baaaaahhhh bah bahhhhh baaaahh. If we were in a real pandemic there would not be a question if we were. You would not be forced and threatened to social distance, and wear a muzzle. In a real pandemic people wouldn’t dream of going to a theme park. In a real pandemic no
one would go to restaurants where in the magic bubble of your booth or table you were safe. Inna real pandemic people wouldn’t be singing it’s a small world. So manny, you keep pretending “people” made if political. It was our own leaders who did that.

        1. Emma

Jay, been through a lot of pandemics, have you?? With all that experience you would be a great asset in helping to find a “cure”. Your antibody level must be through the roof. Do us all a favor and donate your body to science. Thanks 🙂

        2. Trolls like you are a major part of the problem

        3. JustJessee

Completely hypocritical of me to make the assumption, but statements like yours make me think of the line that “the only people who have REAL PTSD are soldiers who were in battle, everyone else fakes it”. Both ideas are inaccurate, do more harm than good, and in no way makes the believer a stronger person for holding the idea.

2.29 million people have died worldwide and you’re complaining about wearing a cloth on your face that somehow is problematic but being outside in the winter bundled up in facemasks was never an issue for people who live in cold climates. Hunters who wrap themselves in head to toe gear, balaclavas, and deer urine don’t complain this much. Yes yes, the difference is “it’s their choice to wear that!”, well….have you tried choosing to not want to contribute to the infection of your fellow Americans by doing very simple, minimally inconvenient actions, in specific public situations for the betterment of all? There’s no magic solution, doing those things won’t magically make you immune from being infected/infecting others but you know what it does do? Minimizes unnecessary exposure to the virus. That’s what we’re trying to do. MINIMIZE the unnecessary exposure. It’s all still a risk, but if you want to go out and have that dinner in public…you take precautions when you can, and when you take the mask off…you roll the dice. If everyone else is properly distancing, or there are barriers up, that helps minimize the, yes you guessed it, unnecessary exposure.

If wearing a mask in public and respecting peoples personal space is too hard for people, too much effort to attempt properly, please, they can stay on their own private property where they can do whatever they’d like. No one is wanting the kind of pandemic you’re alluding to, the airborne Ebola disaster you’d call ‘a real pandemic’. A ‘real pandemic’ doesn’t need to have us all keeling over with bleeding eyes to legitimize it. All the disaster preppers and apocalypse-philes will just have to deal with the issues we’re facing worldwide right now, that are actually manageable – at least by the people who don’t want to let the situation get worse. Some people seem to actually want the opposite.

It’s to allow people getting out of their cars to social distance. Later in the day, once the initial wave of people are already cleared, the empty spots are filled in. An empty parking spot is about 6 feet.

Disney has gone off the deep end. We just got back from Orlando yesterday after spending a week at Universal. We tried Disney last September and we were miserable. We had so much fun at Universal; no park reservations, we got into the park an hour early, park hopped freely and walked on almost every ride with our express pass. Skip Disney and go to Universal. You won’t regret it.

    1. JustJessee

USO with an Express Pass at the end of January is an entirely different beast than WDW in September.

We were also at both in September. We felt safer in WDW with their precautionary measures. USO was a nightmare of chin-diaper wearers and close standers. Both were more crowded than we expected, with both having a mix of walk-on and normal wait times depending on the day of the week.

Ugh… Even with your mask on. You’re still going to have that one person coming up on you. Very annoying. However, they talk about safety, which is good, but i’ve seen videos of people close on each other. All of this is just annoying.

Went to Disney and universal in December. I thought both parks did a great job with social distancing, especially in the lines. Universal may have been a bit better. Out in the park most guest were trying to social distance sometimes it just wasn’t possible though overall a really good job and as far as I know there hasn’t been a outbreak at either park. Plan on going back in February..

    1. Dana

We are currently at Universal studios and they are doing a fantastic job with Covid safety!
