Wow it’s surprisingly quiet on this post. Where are all of the anti-masker, anti-lockdown, pro right wing kooks like Gina Carano? Y’all were very vocal before. Did y’all realize that your homies looked nutzo on tv storming the White House castle?
Why is he even committing on this. He’s stayed silent over the riots that were going on over the summer. It is hypothetical that he released a statement when Disney doesn’t believe in unity and respecting people. On the side there has been a lot of condemning from the right side unlike no condemning from the left side when it came to the BLM and antifa riots.
Holy crap, I actually felt my IQ drop after reading that long winded bit of nonsense. That was probably the most ridiculous attempt at an analogy that I’ve ever seen.
Forever puzzled Patty was questioning the silence from the right wing crazies. It’s entirely relevant to question why perpetually puzzled Patty has been quite for months about the left wing crazies.
There it is. Most comments on here have turned the discussion around in some way to comment on BLM, as if that is what happened specifically at the Capitol on Tuesday.
Once again, all that might be a very interesting topic, but does not address what actually happened.
Why don’t we do this instead…
…let’s limit the comments to one of four phrases:
1) I do not support Disney’s statement on unity because I think what happened at the Capitol was a good thing.
2) I do support Disney’s statement on unity and I think happened at the Capitol was a bad thing.
3) I do not support Disney’s statement on unity and I think what happened at the Capitol was a bad thing.
4) I do support Disney’s statement on unity and I think what happened at the Capitol was a good thing.
That pretty much covers all basis and will stay on the actual topic of what happened. At the same time, we’ll all know where each other stands.
1) I do believe Bob Chapek felt compelled to comment to mirror the comments of other CEO’s whose previous involvement in process of governing our country had been to make substantial “donations” to politicians to curry favor and/or advance an agenda regardless of the impact on the average American.
2) I do believe in unity and the rights and responsibilities of a citizen of the United States and will continue to believe regardless of what declarations Bob Chapek or any other CEO or career politician feel the need to make to make in an effort mollify themselves in the public arena.
The BLM/ANTIFA riots do hold presence here. The first thread basically said the right side didn’t condemn the illegal acts. That’s false; Republican senators, Republican White House staff, and the Republican protestors who stayed behind condemned it. Actually there was protestors who tried to intervene and stop the criminal acts when it started. And of course all Democrats condemned the acts. The reason the BLM/ANTIFA riots come into play is because the left side did absolutely nothing during those riots. The Republican senators and White House staff did, but no Democrat senator did. Especially no CEO from Disney issued a statement on condemning the riots and trying to move forward with unity……
The other issue is the storm on The Capitol is being called a riot. It was not a riot. Was it right; NO. Did it cross the line where free speech ends; YES. Criminal trespassing; YES….. Destruction of property; YES…. Theift or grand larceny; YES and depending on the value of what items were stolen.
Let’s look at the BLM/ANTIFA riots. Hurling objects causing bodily injury; destruction of property; looting; arson; using fireworks as improvised explosives and various accounts of manslaughter.
And so while maybe this is more of the bigger picture instead of just the little pinpoint Mickey mouse discussion, it is all relevant.
It basically goes down to if certain people did not condemn and speak out against the BLM/ANTIFA riots and instead sat back saying that those were peaceful protests; those same people don’t and should not be speaking out against the Capitol Hill storm.
What happened at the capital was no different then what happened across America all summer, it was just a lot less violent and less deadly at the capital.
This idiot and others like him as well as other big tech companies are the problem. These rioters were wrong but it pales in comparison to the riots over the summer. Like Google, twitter, facebook, he chooses to pick and choose his disdain. By not condemning the summers riots, he just encouraged violence going forward but is dicking that now.
I still see no reason to take such actions. As CEO I expect him to improve Disney and Disney holdings. Unless Disney is getting money from the government he should support all equally. He has stock holders and customers from all over. I assume he thinks it is his job to act as my government representative

Because those claims aren’t unsubstantiated or dubious. They’re blatantly obvious.

Just don’t understand why the company would need to comment on something that doesn’t concern the company in any way.

What happened at the capitol was an attempt to lynch politicians and overthrow our government.
That’s condemnable.
People defending what happened at the capitol are saying treason and insurrection are things they condone.
Thee Trump slogan should have been America’s Only Great When I’m Winning or Me First; America Second.
That’s the platform.
