Disney Continues to Refund Annual Passes Amid Park Closures

in Walt Disney World

Walt Disney World Resort

If you were an Annual Passholder in 2020, things have definitely not been as expected. With Disney World having to temporarily close due to the ongoing pandemic, anyone with an Annual Pass had to be put on hold. Luckily, extensions were available and Disney seems to still be compensating Guests by reminding them that more money is coming their way.

For Guests who had a Platinum Plus Pass, which grants you access to both Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park, even with an extension there is value missing. This is because the Platinum Plus Annual Pass costs more than others, but with the water parks staying closed since March, that extra money has gone to waste. Because of this, Guests with the Platinum Plus Passes have been receiving partial refunds to their accounts to make up for their loss.

Disney Annual Passholders have been receiving emails that note:

Important Walt Disney World Passholder Update

We are writing to let you know that the partial refund due to the current closure of Disney’s Blizzard Beach and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park has been processed and you should receive your refund in the mail soon.

We wanted to thank you for being important members of our Walt Disney World® family.

We recently reported that Disney would be reopening one of the waterparks as of March 7th, 2021, and we notified our readers that if they are a Platinum Passholder, refunds are to be expected. Here’s what Disney shared previously:

We realize that some Guests with existing tickets and some Annual Passholders are impacted by this update. We are offering options to Guests with an existing Premier Passport, Platinum Plus Pass, Water Parks Annual Pass, Water Parks After 2 Annual Pass or tickets that include the Park Hopper Plus Option or Water Park & Sports Option.

Water Park Annual Passes: Water Parks and Water Parks After 2 Annual Passes will be automatically extended for the period in which both water parks were closed. As an alternative, water park Passholders may instead choose to cancel their pass. To choose this option, please call (407) 939-2732.

Platinum Plus and Premier Annual Passholders: We will automatically be issuing our Platinum Plus and Premier Annual Passholders with water park access a partial refund. Find out more information on how this refund is calculated.

We will continue to monitor the constantly changing environment and its impact on the state of Florida as we find the right time to welcome back even more of our Guests and Cast Members.

Guests with Platinum Passes or lower had the option to get a partial refund for the closure which lasted around 2 months and have their Annual Pass expiration date not change, or receive an extension for the days the parks were closed.

Have you found that your Disney World Annual Pass was worth it in 2020?
