Chef Mickey’s, located at Disney’s Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World, reopened for dining a little while ago, except Guests couldn’t see any characters during their dining experience. However, that changes today as Mickey and the gang have returned to the popular restaurant, along with some other changes.
Mickey and Friends Return
Disney Parks Blog recently shared that when Mickey and his pals return to Chef Mickey’s (which took place today, December 16) things will look a bit different. Since Disney is still implementing social distancing measures, Guests won’t be able to greet Mickey and his friends up close, but as they walk through the restaurant, you can still smile and wave and snap a socially distanced selfie with the gang.
Elimination of Buffet-Style Dining
In addition, since the restaurant reopened, there has been no more buffet-style dining to help keep Guests and Cast Members safe during the pandemic. Instead, Chef Mickey’s has been offering a new family-style menu. And now that characters have returned to the sit-down restaurant, there are some new items on the menu that were not there before!
New Menu at Chef Mickey’s
Disney Parks Blog recently announced:
Along with traditional breakfast favorites, you will be able to try the new Mickey’s “Celebration” Pancake, featuring whipped cream, celebration sprinkles, shimmering pixie dust and more.
For something a bit more savory, we’re adding a new “Loaded” Potato-Cheese Casserole topped with smoked bacon crumbles and chives.
Last but not least, Goofy’s Banana Bread French Toast will combine unique flavors of banana bread baked in zesty orange-scented French toast batter, topped with Espresso-mascarpone cream, toasted bananas and chocolate crumbles.
In addition to these new items courtesy of Mickey and the gang, Disney made a few slight changes to the menu, now offering Harvest Sweet Rolls with Honey Butter, Sea Salt and Cream Cheese Icing-Poured Tableside and Fresh Fried Sweet Fritter with Vanilla-Cinnamon Sugar instead of assorted pastries.
In regards to the traditional selections, Guests will be served:
- Scrambled Eggs
- Chicken Sausage
- Slow-roasted Beef Brisket
- Mickey Waffles
- Pork Sausage Links
- Mickey-shaped Waffles — (Plant-based)
- Smoked Bacon
- Tofu Scramble — (Plant-based)
One change Guests may notice is that the two plant-based options are now listed on the actual menu. Additionally, select meat options have been swapped out and replaced with items such as the Chicken Sausage.
