I’m sorry but sometimes you just have to call it like it is:
This is a spoiled actor who is using his color to say he (and his character) were slighted in these movies. Nothing more, and it does a huge disservice to other actors of color.
How could he not, when reading the script in advance know who the main protagonist and antagonist were? In fact anyone watching the first 20 minutes of the The Force Awakens knew who the main characters the film would revolve around.
And what about the Poe character? You could say the same about him – That character was also eventually pushed back behind Kylo and Rey. In fact both the Finn and Poe characters had about equal time.
If Boyega (Finn) was told he would be the leading star (along perhaps with Rey and Poe and then THE CHARACTER itself was lessened – well guess what? That’s movie making! It happens all the time and has nothing to do with his color!
And could the same be said of Billy Dee Williams years ago? Did he complain about his character not getting more screen time? No! And guess what – He’s still around in the films! Not to mention no one knew of him before Star Wars and pretty much overnight he was known around the world.
So there’s a lesson to be learned here. Don’t burn your bridges and be grateful you were part of the greatest movie franchise in history!

This comment that Ken G posted has got to be one of the most out of touch posts I have ever read, but it’s typical of some white movie goers.
