‘Tis the holiday season at the Walt Disney World Resort! And all is looking merry and bright at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Park.
Join us here, at ITM, as we share all of the “festive flotillas,” spectacular holiday décor, and jolly, tasty treats at Animal Kingdom this year.
Although this year will be different than years past due to the ongoing pandemic, even just the smallest amount of Disney holiday magic is sure to bring joy to you and yours!
Animal Kingdom’s Merry and Bright Décor
During our visit, we took in all the magical holiday decorations around us. Just because this holiday at the parks will feel different, doesn’t mean fewer lights or Christmas trees. There are plenty of differently decorated trees throughout Animal Kingdom for all to enjoy.
There’s even a photo opportunity near the entrance!
Even DinoLand has joined in all the holiday festivities:

It’s great to see different cultures represented by their decorations as well.
Character “Festive Flotillas”
In order to maintain safe and social distancing, this year Disney’s Animal Kingdom will use their waterways for Character “Festive Flotillas.” Guests will be able to see some of their favorite characters float by and grab a quick photo opportunity.
According to Disney Parks Blog:
Holiday fun returns to Disney’s Animal Kingdom Theme Park, bringing unique seasonal décor and a flurry of festive flotillas with favorite Disney characters sailing down the Discovery River to a jolly holiday soundtrack.
“Donald’s Dino Bash Festive Flotilla” takes its seasonal celebration to the water, with character friends waving to everyone as they pass, and Chip ‘n’ Dale jingle through the jungle, bringing their own style of holiday flair to the river. The Discovery Island Drummers cruise along, too, entertaining guests on the shore with an energetic holiday beat. And when Santa Claus makes the trek to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, he’ll spread the joyous spirit of the season to all he sees along the way.
Holly & Jolly Good Treats
It just wouldn’t be the holidays without some tasty treats- and the Animal Kingdom has a great selection this year! Guests can enjoy a White-Chocolate Peppermint Cream Cheese Mouse from the Satu’li Canteen, a Menagerie Cupcake from Flame Tree Barbecue, Pumpkin Ice Cream Sandwich at Dino-Bite Snacks, or a Santa Mickey Mousse that will be available at Creature Comforts. All of which are almost too beautiful to eat!
Santa Claus is making his grand appearance at Disney’s Animal Kingdom! Although he won’t be available to meet and greet with Guests, he will be waving and wishing everyone happy holidays!
