The Duncan Yo-Yos kiosk also closed on October 31st.

I don’t think this is that major. The Void we knew of before and that seemed to be more about Disney just ending it rather than anything else.
Lucky Brand and Tumi are both hugely overpriced for their products.
Lucky Brand jeans can be well over $100 a pair and not any better than $25 pair of Wrangler from Target or Old Navy jeans. Tumi is laughably overpriced – Some luggage pieces are over $1,000!

Even before this year (really after the holidays of 2019) we saw many high-end retailers faltering with Newman Marcus as a prime example. And we saw even the mid-level retailers go under (or close to it) like JC Penny. Truth be told, many of these brands have been teetering on the brink for several years and Covid pushed them over the edge. Folks just shop differently now and certainly for younger people (under 30) these types of retailers and even the high-end restaurants are just not on their radar.

You’re comparing average priced jeans to ones made for poverty and lower echelons of the middle class people are suggesting they are similar, which is preposterous. But they are both bad as I would never be caught dead in such plebeian garb. Try setting your sights higher in life rather then make false self-justifications about cost.

Secondly, Tumi is a very well respected brand that makes very good wallets and travel accessories. If you cannot afford them and are satisfied with the piddly, Asian child-labor, sweatshop luggage you have, so be it. Why does your jealousy have to spill over into your argument to justify as stores closing? Well because a pion such as yourself cannot afford something so then it’s not any pity if that retailer fails?

Are you calling someone out for not buying items just Bc they are name brand or expensive? That is shallow and sad honey. I see you have a closed minded outlook on the world. And a great insight into your priorities

This is a good point. Lucky Brand is already in Chapter 11 bankruptcy, for goodness sake…

They killed Disney Springs when they added hyper inflated stores. They were hoping to cash in on bored rich tourists who got dragged to Disney, but it’s ineffective.
Downtown Disney worked. The boondoggle we have to walk through to catch the bus is off putting

So agree with your statement! Back in the say it used to be a fun place for nightlife…no more. I quit going when they added all the retail stores.

    2. Jess

Agreed. I loved Downtown Disney. I don’t care for Disney Springs. It’s lost that fun Disney Atmosphere in favor of another high dollar shopping center. I miss the old Marketplace and rarely venture out of that end.

Unfortunately many lives and businesses throughout the world have been negatively impacted by the China virus. I hope America finds a way to sue China over all the issues with the virus that they released to the world. In today’s world with technology and innovation this should have never happened, but China wanting to beat the US and vaccine development and greed are the main reasons that this virus was released to the world. It’s ironic that people living in China we’re allowed to travel anywhere else in China after the virus outbreak, but they were allowed to travel all over the world.

Finally. Another that believes with me that this was purposely released by the Chy-nese leadership.

Lucky Brand filed for bankruptcy – Simon bought them to keep the “key stores” mall locations open. The store at DS days were numbered – no surprise there.

Get a grip. The US has dismal leadership, who ignored the pandemic, and called it a hoax. If need to sue POTUS, not China.

      1. Charles P

        I so agree

    4. Charles

Your a Dump supporter aren’t you

  5. Robert Iger and his board have made terrible shareholder decisions. Exhibit A at Disney springs: Building the nba experience. The M&M store will be a flop just like Robert’s decision to bring ample hill creamery.

Most of what Disney Springs (and I hate that name) has is trash. People don’t go on Disney property to shop at Coach or Lacoste or LovePop (that stupid greeting card store). They go there to be immersed in Disney, hence why all the foot traffic is is on the side where the Disney stores are at. But even the Disney stores aren’t perfect. Some of them are very dated and don’t get me started on that Disney Christmas store that’s 99.7% ornaments… they missed the boat so huge with that store. They could’ve created something with that store that could’ve be regarded the world over. Instead it’s some small, drab store tucked away on the far side. Frankly, they could and should level the whole property and start over. Make the whole property Disney with the exception of some unique restaurants and keep the Coca-Cola store.

Here’s an example of how they miss the boat: the big teal-ish colored hot air balloon??? They could’ve kept the same concept but made it the balloon house from “Up” maybe even tweak it a little so the balloons light up at night.

I could go on and on.

I’ve said the same words many times over. Make it DISNEY!! That’s why people go there. You can go to Mall at Millenia for all the stores. Tourists aren’t afraid to travel, you see them there all the time. Downtown Disney, as I still call it, actually Disney Village most times, should be the way it used to be. Fun! Even the restaurants aren’t great. We usually go there to the movies and The World of Disney Store. And not much else. Oh how I wish they had really fun Disney stuff there. Starting with the Christmas store!

  7. SG

Yes, good riddance to those over priced stores! Bring in the Disney magic. I love CW’s idea of turning that hot air balloon into an Up attraction. I’m sorry to see The Void go, we really wanted to try it.

If disney would stop all the mask and temperature checks, people are not getting sick, stop all the election intimidation of voters. Disney is losing money over nonsense. Stop the restrictions. Busnesses have bin open, stop restrictions. Put the Dreams back in Disney, not the Whatever you After. Whatever is such a negative word. Stop trying to heard people like cattle. Thank you

    1. Ashlyn

I’ve been disappointed in the new DS. Over priced, pretentious retailers, nothing different from what I can find back home. Won’t miss these closings.

    2. Ashlyn

Ignorance at it’s finest. We are in the middle of a Pandemic. Restrictions are stopping the spread. People are getting sick, and has been rising due to restrictions being relaxed.
You do understand that this is a state mandate, not a Disney mandate? Florida is an example of what happens when those restrictions are lifted. The cattle are those who storm capital buildings or herd themselves into unsafe situations. And the intimidation of voters has been from the party that says the pandemic is a hoax.

Hope they close Rainforest Cafe down soon! One of the most corrupt companies on wdw property they have manager’s lie and not record information that can legally be used against the company. They laid off their employees and not allowed them to use there paid earned vacation time. Close this overpriced microwave food restaurant down now! Marty Sherman
