Many families tune in to watch the beloved Disney Parks Christmas Special, or Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Celebration, on ABC every year to see wonderful musical numbers and the iconic Christmas parade.
This year however due to the coronavirus we may see some big changes to the classic special.
In a report by Deadline, they say that:
Also on tap is a “reimagined” Disney Parks Magical Christmas Day Celebration, set for Friday, December 25. The special is still in the planning process but it’s expected to be a mix of highlights through the years, along with some new elements, per ABC.
It is obvious as to why the special will need some “reimagining” this year. The Disney Parks Christmas Special typically switches between both Walt Disney World and Disneyland as parade floats and special musical guests are cut together to make it appear to viewers that both celebrations are happening simultaneously at both parks.
The footage is typically filmed over multiple days in both parks prior to December 25th so everything can be edited together for families to enjoy at home on Christmas day.
With Disneyland unable to open at this time and Disney World holding modified cavalcade versions of Christmas fun, we are wondering what the special will look like this year, but we look forward to seeing what Disney can come up with to entertain and delight us on Christmas day!
