Last night, a rumor broke that the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway McDonald’s Happy Meal toys had been recalled.
According to the Instagram post, an internal McDonald’s notice reads:
We’re asking all restaurants to stop distributing the toys with game tickets and themed Happy Meal boxes immediately, and to switch to generic stock of Happy Meal toys and generic Happy Meal boxes until you receive replacement toys.
We are working to quickly route Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway toys without game tickets and generic Happy Meal boxes to restaurants.
The toys without game tickets and generic boxes will begin arriving as early as today and should be used immediately and until depleted, which we expect will be on or around Dec. 2.
Now, Inside the Magic has confirmation that this rumor is true. Upon trying to locate one of the Disney World Happy Meal toys this afternoon, we were informed by two different McDonald’s restaurants that the toys have, in fact, been recalled and were all sent back to McDonald’s corporate offices/distribution centers.
The collection of 10 Happy Meal toys were all based on different Walt Disney World Resort attractions.
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Tower of Terror, Jungle Cruise, Pirates of the Caribbean, Dinosaur, Space Mountain, the Mad Tea Party, Spaceship Earth, and Expedition Everest were all featured. The ride vehicles feature some famous drivers and riders — Mickey, Minnie, Donald, Daisy, Goofy, and Pluto!
No timeline for the return of the Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway inspired toys was given, but hopefully they return soon so Disney fans can complete their collections. It does not seem that the recall is for safety reasons, so the toys should not have to be redesigned.
What do you think about this Disney Happy Meal toy recall?
