On, Tuesday, November 3, it appeared that Disney World opened up new dining times for several different locations on property. However, not long after word got out, the website crashed and Disney informed Guests that this was actually a glitch, and a larger number of new reservation times were not opening up.
Here’s the statement Disney released:
On Tuesday, November 3, our dining reservation and experience booking system unfortunately experienced an unanticipated technical issue for a short period of time, and while we worked as quickly as possible to resolve this, during that period the system displayed reservation times at locations that were unavailable and fully booked.
To those who were able to snag a dining reservation during this time, if Disney is not able to accommodate the reservation due to limited capacity, they will be automatically canceling the dining reservations that were added during the system glitch. As an apology, Disney is sending out e-gift cards to Guests whose reservations can’t be accommodated.
Our senior editor was one of those affected. She has an upcoming Disney World vacation, and in anticipation she made dining reservations for the second she could — 60 days out.
On the morning of Tuesday, November 3, she opened up the My Disney Experience app and noticed some times opened up that better accommodated her schedule, and so she swapped the times. However, because these were technically “new” reservations made and were not the old reservations made 60 days out, Disney had to cancel these dining reservations and sent her the following email.
We are so thankful to have the opportunity to make magic for guests like you every single day and we love being a part of the special memories you make at our dining locations and bookable experiences.
We are deeply sorry to share with you today that we are reaching out about a recent dining reservation and/or experience booking you made through your My Disney Experience account. On Tuesday, November 3, our dining reservation and experience booking system unfortunately experienced an unanticipated technical issue for a short period of time, and while we worked as quickly as possible to resolve this, during that period the system displayed reservation times at locations that were unavailable and fully booked.
As we continue to limit attendance and promote physical distancing, we are not able to keep reservations made during that period of time and we will unfortunately be automatically cancelling the following dining reservation(s) and/or experience booking(s):
Reservation for 2 on 11/11/2020
Topolino’s Terrace Flavors of the Riviera – Disney’s Riviera Resort
