This morning, Walt Disney World was granted a construction permit for work in the Blizzard Beach area. The address listed on the permit — 1540 West Buena Vista Drive — appears to be near Disney’s Winter Summerland Miniature Golf course, which is located in the Blizzard Beach area.Â
This particular Winter Summerland construction project is to “provide labor, material, and/or electrical for construction.” No further details about the upcoming project have been released.
Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park remain temporarily closed amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Walt Disney Company has confirmed that they are planning a March 2021 reopening for one of the two water parks.
When will the entire Blizzard Beach area reopen?
Although there has been no official word on which water park will be reopening in the spring, last week, Disney announced that the Winter Summerland Mini Golf attraction will be reopening to Walt Disney World Resort Guests on November 6.
This, coupled with the fact that construction work will be happening in the general Blizzard Beach area and the Blizzard Beach wave pool was reportedly being tested yesterday, could potentially indicate that water park will be the first to reopen. It is important to remember that this is, however, purely speculation at this point.
The official notice about Disney World water parks reads:
While Disney’s Blizzard Beach Water Park and Disney’s Typhoon Lagoon Water Park remain closed at this time, pending government approvals, we currently plan to reopen one of the two Disney water parks on March 7, 2021. We may adjust our proposed reopening date, and if that happens, we will let Guests know what to expect in a future update. View additional details.
It is worth noting that Disney’s Fantasia Gardens Miniature Golf, which already reopened as part of Disney World’s phased reopening process, will close for the winter season from November 5 through January 31, 2021.
