I get safety and all but then send more transport out! Most places have buses just sitting and waiting to go somewhere let them be useful!

was just there last week no wait time at all from the beach club or the park one bus ride back we’re the only 3 on the bus

      “busses”=kisses
      “buses”=transportation

      1. Travis

This is exactly what I came here to say.

      2. Neil

Thank you. It’s what I came to the comments to say, too.

It’s what I came to do too

This is the week end. And Disney just keeps laying off cast members . It’s so crazy Disney is just money hungry and now on dec 31 they are laying off more cast members and one crazy enough to spend they money there is crazy. Disney care laws about the people that work there as long as people come and spend there money and get less they don’t care

Not a single bus driver has been laid off. And as of November 1, all full time drivers will be back and buses will be running. They have also made changes to the seating capacity allowing for more guests on each bus as well.

      1. Jenn

I certainly hope so! An hour wait is UNACCEPTABLE!

        1. Chris

We were at Walt Disney World last week, stayed at BCV. DHS was busy and bus lines were long. We drove our car. No wait for MK and DS at all, only family on the bus once.

      2. OGDisney

Please stop, the Disneysplaining has to end this year it’s gone on long enough. We, the paying customers, we’re not stupid and it’s painfully obvious Disney has made cutbacks all across the board at Disney World and it shows.

If no bus drivers have been laid off then where did they all go? Why was Disney contracting third party transportation service recently, after all no drivers have been laid off?

    2. Susan

There is a very simple choice when it comes to Disney World right now. Go and put up with everything the way it is or do not go for a while

  4. Mickey

Seriously??? This happens every time I visit Disney and I only stay on property. Got a lot of fast passes for complaining the last time. Their transport sucks and has for along time

    1. Peter

      Absolutely agree with you, 100%!

      1. SG

So true, remember rhs days of cramming everyone in on buses and monorail? Standing room only. But with COVID it’s too dangerous to pack buses and monorail. Even if the young and healthy recover just fine, the elderly do not.

  5. Beth g

Minnie Vans are finished unfortunately. The entire department was laid off.

    1. SG

That is just wrong, bring them in for free transportation and rehire the drivers Disney!

We are returning home from our Disney trip tomorrow and we did not have any issues with the complimentary transportation.

We stayed at Pop Century and used the bus system twice to get to and from Magic Kingdom. Both times getting there was a wait of no more than 5 minutes for a bus and we left at 8:30 each morning. The same was for leaving Magic Kingdom on Wednesday. However, today on Halloween we had to wait about 30-40 minutes to get on a bus to return to Pop Century. We did notice that this was the longest lines of any of the resorts and Disney added more buses to pick us up and drive us back to the resort.

We also took the Skyliner to Hollywood Studios which did have a long line but they were launching a new gondola every 10 seconds so the line moved pretty fast. Since I have read from previous blogs about how crowded Hollywood Studios was compared to all of the other parks I knew that we needed to get there early. Because of this we got in the Skyliner line around 8:30 in the morning and onto a Gondola by 9:10, when we got off at the transfer station there was another long line but it moved quickly as well and we still made it to Hollywood Studios by 9:45. Again, Disney saw the long line and opened the Skyliner 30 minutes earlier to aid with social distancing. So yes, there were some long lines but they only seemed longer than they were because of the social distancing spacing. All in all, the transportation system worked and made the trip a very easy and smooth experience.

Thank-you Doug for noting at the beginning…”COMPLEMENTORY TRANSPORTATION”! Also Social Distancing PEOPLE! Sounds as if complaining is back to NORMAL!!!

      1. Hi

To be fair, it’s not complimentary, you are paying for it.

        1. Pete

          You certainly ARE!!!

Since they noted my tweet, some more context. The bus finally showed after about an hour and a half. We had to call guest services and get them to open a ticket to get a bus to come. By the time it showed, there were about 100 people waiting behind us. I don’t want to guess how long they may have waited. While we waited, we saw about six pop century busses go by. We even saw one of our busses pull up and go out of service. It wasn’t lack of busses or drivers, just mismanagement of their resources.

As for the park openings, we always get to the bus stop ridiculously early for the first bus. The late park arrivals we were told were intentional. Toward the end of the trip, we did get two busses at opening for AK and MK, but most of our week, the parks were open at least a half hour before the first bus arrived, so the major rides already had 100 minute waits before we got there.

      1. Jenn

The later park arrivals were INTENTIONAL? Are you kidding me? I’d go ballistic. Did they tell anyone that in advance? Would give some people time and opportunity to at least opt for an Uber instead of standing there frustrated and then missing 90 minutes of valuable park time.

  7. Rodney

We stayed at Pop Century at the beginning of the month for 9 days and yes the lines were long in the morning for the buses and the skyliner but they moved quickly as they had several busses going to the parks and it moved quickly. We never waited over an hour at any location for a bus. They were running every 40 minutes or so. I say get use to the new norm or just don’t go!!

    1. Justin

How are the wait times for the magical express to/from the airport?

  8. Disneyro

Disney brainwashes everyone that goes there . its not about being a magical place for families its all about the almighty dollar. If you haven’t figured this out by now then considered yourself brainwashed.

The bus system has changed to new service. The person over bus feels it can be run like a city service system. Went in play at DS first. Old service was dispatched driver to load zones. The new way has driver sitting at resort stops for minutes for guest. Its not a load and go system anymore. Its not visual seeing where guest are. Drivers Do Not Like it. But have to follow it. I love the Disney old way better. The new way to get guest home is BAD.

  10. Joe

Disney has more buses, let’s get more people back to drive the guests instead of waiting more than an hour!

  11. Peter and Diane Mitros

    AGREE!

  12. Nancy

Waited Thursday at PC for over an hour to go to DS. Waited an hour to come back. Buses are NOT carrying fewer people, they have installed partitions and try to fill all seats with same size parties. Biggest frustration is while standing in line to go to DS, in an hour 6 buses brought guests back from AK and there were always 2 buses in line to drop off people coming back from MK. We made several bus drivers aware of the problem. 2 called dispatch and 1 flat out refused to even call. Come on Disney, we can do better.

    1. Alya

I envy people whose biggest problem is wait times at a Disney Park. There is a pandemic and people are dying. I know the parks are open and sound like a great time but stay home as much as possible. Be safe and Stay Healthy. Or if you do decide to go (Im not your dad I cant tell you what to do) go in knowing things like long wait times for transportation, rides, etc. Will be a thing. Understand that they are doing their best to keep everyone healthy.

I came here for this comment. Thank you. As a healthcare worker, I’d give anything to be at Disney right now, even if it meant waiting a n hour in line for a bus. Beats the endless cycle of work and loneliness I’ve been dealing with since March. Also, as the sister of a Cast member, I’m grateful for all the safety measures they take to keep her safe.

  13. Momof2_87

Wow. I went Thursday and there was a constant flow of buses. I seen more buses there than in the whole city.

    1. NESTOR

What happened to social distancing and face masks on waiting line for busses?

    2. Iomyvet

Look at it this way…..at least you had the $$$$$$ to go.
      Not everybody does….

Wow, the more of these articles and blogs I read, the more it seems as if Disney is really slipping and cuttings corners/experiences wherever possible.

That’s really a shame. As tempted as I am to go back, I’d rather not spend more money for a lesser experience. Maybe in a couple of years when the bulk of this pandemic is behind us, but I’m still not holding my breath that Disney will ever get back to even a semblance of what it was. Too bad. It used to be a blast.

  14. Jason Diffendal

Hey Alessa, I’d appreciate it if you embedded my tweet that you quoted, just like you did for everyone else in this article. Was there a reason you didn’t embed mine?

We were at coronado springs this weekend and the only bus that took forever was the magic kingdom bus. We also had an issue being told they didn’t have room for us (party of 4) twice but they loaded other parties. Idk if it was because we had 2 strollers (small ones) or what but they loaded parties of 3 or 4 instead of us and it was annoying. Our took everything to keep my hubby calm after 45+ minutes waiting for the bus then that happening.

  17. Mazzymay

We waited over 1.5 hours in the summer of 2019 for a bus to Pop Centuy. 🙄
We waited less time when we went in September of this year. 🤷🏼‍♀️

After waiting all that time for a bus. Plus some of the good rides were not working. They cut hours. No interactions with characters. No parade no fire works.. BUT NO DISCOUNT ON THE TICKETS.

    1. Rozalen Pober

I think Disney owes something to those of us that didn’t cancel on them when they needed us the most. We paid top dollar for no park hopping, no fireworks, no shows, no buffets, no character meets, very limited food and drink choices, no waterway transportation, no monorail to Epcot, long waits for buses, constant ride breakdowns, and days when you could not ride the one ride you wanted at the one park you were allowed to make a reservation for. Listen up Disney… we shortchanged guests are waiting for your thanks and gratitude.

You can always drive your own car…

You think the buses are bad, try getting a cup of coffee at Pop Century when they open at 7! The line is out to the pool!!! They said “sorry, we are overbooked and understaffed”! I get that, but making Disney resort guests pay regular price for EVERY perk being took away????? No Xtra magic hours, no fast passes, etc…just stay at a Motel 6, at least you get free breakfast!!! Disney needs to get their act together, it’s a hot mess!!!!! They lay off all these cast members, then deflect blame onto covid??? Hire them back! You obviously need more help. Guests can’t park hop because of tracing issues? That’s ridiculous. How about Xtra magic hours? What’s that excuse???? How about us AP holders that have had EVERY single thing we paid for stripped from us? At some point, Disney needs to be held accountable. I waited for over an hour and a half for AK at Coronado. Ended up having to take an Uber. The line was incredibly long. Prior to that, Pop Century was almost 2 hours long with only allowing 12 per bus. ( A few weeks ago). I will upload the picture.

  23. Heaven

Pro tip- Don’t waste over an hour waiting for each bus, just go directly to uber/lyft mode if your name is Katie.

  24. Rozalen Pober

Was at WDW 9/2-9/12 and the situation was the same from hotels to parks and DS We stayed at POP and the skyline was down a lot for rain especially at night. We took Uber’s many days. This was park capacity of 25%. Waits were typically 1 hour in line. Except for AK.
