In a Today show appearance yesterday, Disney fan and actor Neil Patrick Harris revealed that he and his family contracted COVID-19 in the early days of the pandemic hitting the U.S.
“It happened very early [in the pandemic], like late March, early April,” he shared. “We were doing our best before, and I thought I had the flu, and I didn’t want to be paranoid about it. And then I lost my sense of taste and smell, which was a big indicator, so we holed up.”
According to a People article about Harris’s experience with COVID 19 symptoms, the multi-talented performer also told Today:
Speaking about the recovery process, Harris continued, “It was not pleasant, but we got through it. The How I Met Your Mother alum added that he and his family now “have antibodies and are feeling good.”
“We want to make sure everyone’s doing their best to slow this down every way possible, for sure,” he said.
NPH and his family, including husband David Burtka and 9-year-old fraternal twins Harper and Gideon, are all big Disney Parks fans, with Harris regularly participating in various events, including the debut of World of Color at Disney California Adventure and the EPCOT International Festival of the Holiday Candlelight Processional.
Harris also created a signature margarita cocktail for the popular La Cava del Tequila restaurant in EPCOT’s World Showcase Mexico Pavilion.
Harris and his family are not the only celebrities in the Disney family to have suffered during the coronavirus outbreak. Tom Hanks (who voiced Woody in the Toy Story franchise) and his wife Rita both dealt with the virus at about the same time Harris did.
More recently during the coronavirus pandemic, Jungle Cruise and Moana actor Dwayne Johnson (The Rock) confirmed he and his family had tested positive for COVID.
The ITM team wishes Neil Patrick Harris, his family, and everyone who has had COVID-19 the very best. What’s your favorite Neil Patrick Harris Disney moment?
