With the crowds building at the Disney Parks in Orlando this Labor Day weekend, we are now looking to the other side of the coast to see how Disneyland is doing. Disneyland  and Disney California Adventure have remained closed due to the pandemic since March, but the Downtown Disney District has opened back up for Guests to visit.

Yesterday we learned that over the weekend the city of Anaheim was going to hit triple digits and enter a heat wave. For a weekend that is expected to be busy, we would think this would keep guests out of the Downtown Disney District.

About an hour ago, Disney released this statement:

With this warning, guests without reservations are definitely cautioned to stay out of the Downtown Disney District. But just moments ago we were updated to learn that:

Due to limited capacity, we are occasionally pausing parking and entry into #DowntownDisney. Only Guests with dining reservations will be accommodated during this time. General entry will resume as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience!

General entry has now been suspended in Downtown Disney. It may resume shortly, but to know that Disneyland’s Downtown Disney has hit capacity while the weather is really blistering hot is very telling to show how much people want Disneyland to re-open. Guests are looking for even a taste of the magic this Labor Day weekend and are choosing to endure the heat and large crowds to get close to the parks.

Although Disneyland Resort has said they are ready to re-open, it will be interesting to see how the park deals with the high demand that is being exhibited this weekend.
