In March of this year, the Disneyland Resort closed its gates to Guests due to the global pandemic. Since then, the Downtown Disney District has had success with a phased opening in July. Now that there are talks of the Disneyland theme park possibly reopening soon, we get to hear from some Cast Members to see what working during these times is really like.

Thanks to the Disneyland Ambassadors Instagram story, we got to hear from a couple of Disneyland Resort Cast Members about how working during this reopening has been for them. First, the Ambassadors had a walk & talk with Cast Member of 15 years, Oscar. He is part of the horticulture department for Downtown Disney. Oscar had this to say:

“What we do is we usually maintain all the plant material in Downtown Disney. We take care of the plant material. We detail it. We try to have it show ready for all the guests who come down to Downtown Disney. It’s amazing how people look at what you do. It’s amazing how people react to that.”

The Ambassadors then had the pleasure of speaking with custodial Cast Member, Sydney. She had this to say about working the phased reopening:

“It’s my second home. I enjoy being here everyday. I just love making magic for the guests and keeping our guests and Cast Members safe. It still feels like Disney. Yes, there are new procedures and protocols, but we’re all adapting and working together as one family. Again, to keep our guests and Cast safe. I can’t wait for the parks to open again and have everybody back here making magic.”

As a frequent park goer and Annual Passholder, it’s great to hear such positivity going forward with new Disney safety precautions. It makes me want to get back to enjoying the magic as soon as it’s safe to do so!
