As a local in St. Thomas,VI
Thiss is outrageous, that beach was given to the local authorities with one rule only, to never be private. If Disney is ok with breaking local laws, then their ethics team has a lot to talk about. Locals will not stand for this. I will not stand for this.

A “bubble” for DCL has existed all along, it is called Castaway Key, the private island. Cruise Ship Excursions tour company in St Thomas is looking for a way to revive some of their business. Can’t fault them for that?

The reason to open up beaches is to encourage tourism. If this bubble gets set up, you eliminate the only benefit to the locals…while removing their access to their own beach. It seems to be a problem, rather than a solution. Why not just allow Disney ships to keep the bubble at Castaway Cay?

One of the main points for me taking a cruise is to visit local attractions and get at least some local culture. A bubble would totally destroy that. Good chance that I would cancel my cruise if what I can do is significantly diminished.

As a local Virgin Islander living on St. Thomas, I vehemently oppose this proposal! It not only violates the rule of law but it also serves to disenfranchise, segregate, and restrict the local populace from certain areas of OUR beach. Further, if this proposal is intended to keep everyone safe during these Covid-19 times, why would passengers be able to leave their “bubble”, thereby possibly infecting us who are excluded from entering the “bubble”? This speaks volumes to the level of disrespect that Disney and Cruise Ship Excursions has for the people of these islands. My family and I say NO to this proposal!!!

Nice gesture trying to isolate your customers from locals Disney. We, the locals, will not sit quietly by and allow you to make OUR beach your private spot! We say “No!” Go to Castaway! We’ll be fine without you!

That’s gonna be a no Disney, it’s no fair to the locals to bring your passengers and put them literally in the middle of the beach and expect them to stay there.
Carry them to your already private island where they can enjoy the amenities that you already provide there!
