The 2020 Disney Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World Resort is officially transitioning into a virtual race. The news was shared today to the runDisney social channels and in an announcement on the official website.

“As we have shared before, we are basing our decisions on the safety and well-being of our Cast Members, athletes and our Guests, since there is nothing more important than that,” Disney explained in the announcement of the virtual event.

Virtual Race

Disney is electing to host a virtual race instead of hosting the Wine & Dine Half Marathon in person at the Walt Disney World Resort as it has been in years past. Virtual races are nothing new for runDisney, and although Wine & Dine is not typically a virtual event, it will still be offering plenty of ways for runners to participate from the comfort of their own hometowns.

Of course, we wish every runner could go racing through the theme park during each runDisney race and stop for a Dole Whip in the afternoon after the morning’s races are done. But a virtual race may be the next best thing.
