After 15 years of operation at Disney Springs (and Downtown Disney before that), we are sad to announce that POP Gallery is set to close its doors at the end of the month, July 30th.
Here’s the official announcement from the team at POP Gallery:
Fifteen years ago, as a follow-up to HoyPoloi “An Uncommon Gallery” at Downtown Disney’s West Side (1997-2015), POP Gallery at Disney Springs opened upon invitation of Disney Senior V.P, Bud Dare. At THE WALT DISNEY WORLD RESORT, POP Gallery has had the privilege to inspire millions of visitors from all over the world to become art lovers and art collectors.
The one bit of positive news to report here is that the brand isn’t disappearing in its entirety and will continue operating online. Here is a bit more from the team:
Although our doors are closing, we are excited to announce our new online gallery. POP Gallery & Hoypoloi Gallery are combining to launch a new website where we will continue to showcase new releases, gallery exclusives, one-of-a-kind artists works, as well as rare pieces from our archives, and more. We invite you to continue your love of art and our artists on our new website from the convenience of wherever you are.
It is sad to see this unique store go but we can’t say we are too surprised. The rent for a store like this in Disney Springs must be pretty high and many Disney fans are choosing to purchase art from The Art of Disney. With all the changes that have occurred as a result of Downtown Disney turning into Disney Springs over the years, we are just thankful that a unique store like POP Gallery was able to stick around for so long.
There is no official word on what is set to replace POP when it closes later this month but rumors point to Everglazed Donuts & Cold Brew.
