Ahead of today’s opening, Universal Orlando added multiple attractions to the Virtual Line Experience. Guests were eager to cut the lines short in the hot Florida sun and enjoy themselves safely (click here to read about the protocols started today). However, when Guests attending the annual passholder preview passed through the touchpoints on Wednesday, June 3, the Universal app experienced glitches upon the mid-morning reopening.
Remember: Universal Orlando Resort officially reopens to the public on Friday, June 5.
Virtual Line Experience Glitches
The Virtual Line Experience is supposed to act as your marker in the queue, allowing you and your group (of up to ten people) to play and enjoy the Parks while waiting for an attraction. High-value rides like Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure or the classic thriller Revenge of the Mummy utilize this to cut down on spacing and wait times. With the needed distance in the queue to safely maneuver Guests, virtual queues sounded like a great option.
But glitches are plaguing the app before Guests can fill their requests.
The Universal App opens easily enough, but when a user moves to select a group or a time for an attraction, they are locked out by errors and need to either go back or restart the app. Interestingly enough, the Virtual Line Experience for Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure was full before our ITM editor made it to the ride. This leads us to believe the glitches are smoothing over, but still popping up.
Currently, there seem to be Virtual Line Experience options for the following rides, but we’re hoping that both Universal Orlando parks continue to add more as time passes:
- Hagrid’s Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure
- Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey
- Despicable Me Minion Mayhem
- Fast & Furious- Supercharged
- Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit
- Race Through New York Starring Jimmy Fallon
- Revenge of the Mummy
