It really is a shame, I totally agree, but this is one of the many reasons why these protests have been happening all over the U.S. (and even around the globe).
All of these relics honoring a racist culture are no longer being tolerated and are (finally) being called-out to show that they are profoundly problematic in a country that is supposed to respect all of its citizens.
