Walt Disney World Resort Guests with reservations for June 22 and later were able to begin booking dining reservations today. But most of these Guests reported having to wait upwards of two hours over the phone to book reservations for restaurants at any of the Disney Resort hotels.
Guests woke up early to make dining reservations as soon as the phone lines opened up to do so at 7 a.m. ET, and almost instantly they were met with long wait times. While some were able to get through in much less than an hour, most of the reports from Guests indicate that the wait time was close to (if not longer than) two hours, even for those Guests who called Disney as early as possible.
So, why the long wait? The catch is that currently, only Guests with reservations for the Disney Resort hotels from June 22 through July 10 can make dining reservations for restaurants at the Disney Resort hotels. These reservations can only be made over the phone — dining reservations are not currently available through the Walt Disney World Resort official website or the My Disney Experience app. And because Guests need a dining reservation in order to enter a Disney Resort hotel, the Guest-favorite activity resort hopping is virtually eliminated for the time being.
For more information on making dining reservations, read our update here.
Also, note that only certain restaurants are going to be open when Walt Disney World Resort hotels begin reopening on June 22. Not every hotel will be open, and not every dining location at these hotels will be open, either. You can read our full list of restaurants reopening here.
Interested in knowing which locations will reopen in the future? While Disney has not made an official announcement, a new update to dining may have indicated which restaurants could be open in the parks in the coming months. You can read more about that here.
There is currently no word on when dining reservations will reopen for everyone else, although we do know that the booking window has shortened. Advanced dining reservations will only be allowed to be made 60 days ahead of Guest arrival times (instead of the typical 180 days in advance). Reservations for hotels are still paused, FastPass+ is still suspended, and dining reservations for restaurants at the hotels are still paused for everyone who is not a Disney Resort hotel Guest with an arrival time between June 22 and July 10. Dining reservations for theme park restaurants are still paused for everyone.
We’ll update our website when Disney releases more information.
