    Please do your research.
    Case in point:
    5. Whoop De Doo Review

First of all, the name of the show is the Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue. If you want to be taken seriously, at least get the show’s name correct.
Secondly, the show HAS changed as recently as this past winter. Outdated references were dropped so as not to offend anyone. Also, the cast itself has been diverse for many years now.

So, if you have an issue with the show, you many want to have your talking points ready instead of lumping it in with other attractions.

Also…Country Bear Jamboree? This is offensive to whom…bears??

Agreed. Modern values? I think they mean modern perception. A sure fire way to tank the Disney brand. Stop placating to the leftist movement as there will be no end to the demands. Everything is not “Satisfactual” going down this path.

  2. Don’t change splash mountain, it’s an original. If people can’t handle or are offended don’t ride it. I am sick of all you idiots getting offended over every little thing. Your attitudes are offensive, get over it. It’s a ride, not everything in life should be changed because people are lemon heads.

The irony of all of the hate for the cartoon characters used in the Splash Mountain ride (Br’er Rabbit, Br’er Fox, etc.) is that they are based on old African folklore that was brought to America by Africans during slavery periods. While slavery IS horrible and should not be celebrated, African heritage should be. These stories should not be removed because people today do not understand where they came from. Yes, the film Song of the South has serious problems. That is why Disney no longer shows it. That’s the right thing to do. But the animal characters used in the film are based on African folklore and that should still be preserved. And, a much, much better explanation of where these characters really came from needs to be included as well. We shouldn’t lose the heritage of a group of people just because we no longer want to associate with the terrible institution that was forced upon them. African-American history IS American history. We need to celebrate it (a little bit louder).

  4. A source that comes from a forum website?
This article is literally just someone saying, dude trust me on this one.

It’s a Small World? Seriously? You’ve got to be kidding me ! This ride is all about diversity.

This racial stuff is now going A litte to far. After all these years statues are torn down, movies are no longer on HBO, now Disney to change rides. My family and friends, we are very diversed. And we are tired of seeing all of the past being changed due to recent happenings. This is out of control and you are giving into a group who don’t care about anything but themselves. The first people in the south that were hung and dragged through the streets were not africians, it was Italians. So does that mean Italians should do the same and protest?Lets get real.

  7. Please don’t take off Peter Pan’s Flight, Small World, Alice in Wonderland and Winnie the Pooh ride. There the only few are always still the best.

It is my belief that the racist people are the ones trying to find racism everywhere in life. Not everything has to be diagnosed and scrutinized to find racism or lack of diversity.
This has gotten way out of control. You cannot just eliminate history. Where do you then draw the line? Someone out there is always going to be offended by something in life. It is inevitable.
We must first learn the background of things like one person commented earlier about the Splash Mountai animals being based off of African folklore. Now you want to censor your own culture but accuse someone else of being the racist one? Makes no sense.
I guarantee you the overwhelming majority of people NEVER go to a Disney Park and look to see what is racist or offensive. Just like anything in life if you do not like it, do not listen to it, do not participate in it and do not watch it. Why should the majority suffer because a few people are offended?? What about my rights to continue to see the attractions and rides and characters I grew up with? If you want to make change make it for the new things going forward. By changing what Walt Disney created and imagined, you are ultimately saying he was a racist man!! Think about that!

And why stop with GONE WITH THE WIND
    and SONG OF THE SOUTH
In DUMBO you have the “Jim” crows
    Which are incredibly offensive
On FANTASIA the only black characters are half women and half zebras
They are not looking for boyfriends
They are servants to the other characters

There are other films that are not Disney
    But
Are classics that I could mention here also
    But
As I said….they are not Disney.

The cartoon elements from ‘Song of the South’ STILL get shown, not often, but they do get shown and have been released in compilation dvds and videos without the Song of the South (which I think should be shown so people can make their own minds up, the majority of people are only told how bad it was as it’s not been shown in the US for decades, and not for at least 30 years in the UK). Unless you’re going to just remove the whole ride and replace it with something else it shouldn’t even be considered – yes Disneyland, World, Paris etc are popular destinations but not everyone goes – I had to wait until I was 29 to go. If you go looking for racial issues in everything you will find it. Things should be left, and people should be educated more to explain and move things forward, removing the issue brushes it under the carpet, keeping it out in the open means people can have conversations and move to a better world.

Why is this happening? Why is one percent of crazy people dictating what the parks should be? Please don’t let this be true. If they want a Princess frog ride fine but don’t replace these classic rides. The fans really need to speak out against Disney if they try to go through with this. This diverse team doesn’t pay Disney. We do.

There is a difference between criticizing the past and the future. The values and depictions in past films and cartoons has to be taken in context with the times! As such, that puts those values in perspective with what was thought at the time of making. Stories always present caricatures of reality; most are not really totally on point. One could modernize some of the rides, but what is wrong with small world, or peter pan or some of the others? Are the pirates going to claim prejudice next? The best thing a company can do is to change their approach to the present and future. Banning the past is not going to solve the problem. On the contrary, showing the past and having a discussion on what was presented and how the values were warped after viewing it would do much more good. I for one, have been longing to see Song of the South in its entirety for 45 years. And Disney is too afraid to make a presentation of it for the politics instead of focusing on the story. GWTW presented a time in history. It is what it is. Are the carpetbaggers going to come and complain that they were misrepresented?! We are in a very sad state of mind right now. Everyone is afraid of misrepresentation, and is running in the other direction. At one time or another, most certainly, every nation and race has been judged for who they are. We have to get past that and start moving forward in a positive, not a pointing finger way!

Disney is more concerned about offending a few. They are more concerned about diversity than the magic that made Disney great. I think they will eventually change the name from “The magic kingdom” to “the diversity kingdom”. Sad.
