Comments for OpEd: 10 Closed Disney World Attractions I Miss the Most

Old Disney World Attractions

  1. Harley

Ryan i love your articles and you know opinions are opinions but to not have Horizons or Alien Encounter here when those are always #1 on everyone list is a little scary but its all good bc the ones you have are all recent moments missed vs things that are forever going to be part of peoples lives! I guess then i take it back bc its kinda just part of memory and home like Horizons vs these are just missed rides! Horizons petition will continue to add #s which means the next gen loves it just as much we have kept it going and i am sure they will be in chsrge of these i know my son will for GMR and Backlot! I also was a stunt driver so LMA has a place in our heart!

    1. Rebel Ravenclaw

I agree harley and w you ryan both like to add kitchen kabert! Also you have a pt w Test Track while i love design a car it adds to a line that barely moved to begin w! If anything the original thought was more world of motion then now! Though my vintage heart still misses tomorrow’s child!

      1. Harley

My son and i sing instead of doing bedtime stories he can not sleep wo kit kab & TC!

      2. OMG yes, I used to love Kitchen Kaberat!

      3. Davis

Well unless you want to hear something disturbing harley singing kit kab in a house at HOS that put her character over the edge! And the character is 10x scarier then anything at hhn!

      4. Harley

Thanks for that sadly off topic moment Davis btw remember whom got thrown out for hitting on me!? :-p

    2. Harley

Ps. On side note… Hey mark you always ask if i have my keys writing this comment made me realize its on my LMA key chain i have all my copied keys together!

      1. Mark

I was wondering if you still had em probably why my doug live keys are gone you were smart enough to chain yours…. btw orhc?

    3. I really wanted to put Horizons on my list but I am so glad you picked up on the personal memory part of this. I rode Horizons and totally respect it as a fantastic ride but I just don’t have any real memory of it! As a kid I was always too scared to see Alien Encounter though I know I would love it now!

      1. Harley

My kid watches AEC and doesnt get why its gone they closed bc they got too many complaints but then they litterally put stitch in the same spot…. my son when we went on stitch knows when the person died in the old ride! It was as beloved i think it was bc magic needs more than kiddie rides but i guess that was too much for 10 people and they closed though others wish it never left! At least it wasnt a lie like Horizons!

  2. Mark

As my daughter even now says maelstrom where there will always be adventure before the mad dash before boring movie starts and now we just let it go! Shes 4 btw and a parrot!

    1. Janie

At least your kid never asked why a mission space attraction attendant why they work at a death trap!

      1. Harley

I think we all have one of those the sweet sound of victory for long live horizons its like when the anniversaries happen and theres silence or some boos when rides have been replaced! Ie. At epcot when energy just closed and they are already trying to cheer guardians you thought people said figment was gone!

    2. Love this, thanks for sharing! đŸ™‚

  3. Davis

I guess maybe bc i am privy to dhs as its my spot and on rare occasion dak but gmr hands down! Plus PI that place was the reason i left gmr to become security!

    1. Harley

Davis when were you at GMR? Are you aloud to say where you are now or does secuirty go everywhere?

      1. Davis

I am all around security is dependent on where the need is but you can request where you want to go… GMR yrs ago before the costume change and spiel! Why were you gmr harley??? No wonder i felt like i knew you when that moment at HOS happen.

  4. Darth Wistful

You know what attraction I miss the most?

And on a similar note: How about Cape May Cafe, Germany’s Biergarten, Boma and that awesome Fort Wilderness buffet? How in the world are those EVER coming back? Ohhh… I am so depressed.

    1. It’s going to be interesting to see how the parks have to adapt in the short-term when they reopen.

These places will reopen again over time but who knows what will happen in the immediate future. I don’t think even Disney has an idea yet.

  5. Kathy

We miss the original Living Seas when you watched a movie about how the earth formed, and the elevator down to the seas.
We also loved the original Imagination! We won’t return.

    1. Ahhh the original Living Seas! Thanks so much for sharing your memories with us!

I don’t blame you for not returning to Imagination, it is in huge need of attention. Bring back The Dreamfinder!

  6. Its fun to be free

I miss all of epcot center its not the same nor will it ever be!

    1. Am totally with you on that one, sadly I don’t think the planned construction and restoration will quite go ahead in the way it was supposed to now.

  7. Mia Cav

The ride I miss most is 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea. And, yes, I am old.

    1. This would 100% be on my list if I could remember it! I may do a follow-up to include some of the other popular attractions that weren’t triggered by my own memories.

      Thanks for your comment!

  8. Davis

Ryan i greatly appreciate your kindness your the only writer here whom seems to be good natured and considerate of all opinions and comments! I hope you remain safe and thank you for being kind! I have been more than insulted though by others along here whom do not care i am on the inside and care alot about disney but with common sense! So i am saying my goodbyes i hope when things all work out i see ya around the parks and we get to enjoy them. Take care of yourself.

    1. Made my evening, that’s so very kind of you Davis. I wish you all the best, take care and I also hope to say hi to you in the parks when we return back to normal! đŸ™‚

  9. John from Maryland

    Mister Toad’s Wild Ride !!!!!

And don’t forget Snow White’s Adventures

    And the Mickey Mouse Review

And 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
    And Mission to Mars

    Main Street inema

    1. All fantastic additions John!

I don’t disagree with any of these, this list was purely based on personal memories from my trips to WDW when growing up.

  10. Stephen

I miss none of it, except Journey into Imagination. All the rest needed to go. Those attractions replaced with new versions are an improvement (assuming the Guardians coaster will be better). The only attraction I really miss is Horizons in EPCOT.

  11. Jen

Definitely agree with all of your list! The great movie ride was definitely what Hollywood was about! We also loved Delta Dreamflight the first time I went to WDW. I’m also disappointed with the Countries all changing into character rides. I loved learning about the different parts of our world!
