The Opening of Disney Springs

In 2013, Disney released plans to rebrand the area with a new name that would debut following the nearly three year expansion project. This project involved massively renovating the area and adding on a whole new lineup of beautiful restaurants and high end retail chains.

When the freshly rebranded ‘Disney Springs’ opened in 2015, it brought with it a newly escalated charm that drew in massive crowds and expanded its overall audience base. One of the things that appeals to so many guests–both visiting tourists and long time locals– is the expanded lineup of quality restaurants now available all within the district. While all of the dining options offered at Disney Springs showcase their own unique menus and distinct personalities, a few in particular stand out.

A Few Standout Establishments

The following three restaurants have all made the Top 25 list for Orlando Weekly’s ‘most beautiful restaurants’ and it’s not hard to see why. These trendy spots are the perfect place to go for a nice date night out thanks to their exquisite menus, amazing service and stunning views/atmosphere. Disney Springs is broken up into neighborhoods, and all three of these restaurants can be found towards the middle of the district in ‘The Landing’ area.

The Boathouse

The Boathouse is an upscale waterside venue serving mouthwatering surf-and-turf entrees. You can eat in the main dining room or visit various bars within the restaurant, serving up your favorite classic craft cocktails! Want to end the night off with an up close view of the sunset? No problem! The Boathouse sets itself apart from its neighboring restaurants by offering boat tours of Lake Buena Vista in their dreamy vintage amphicars. These boats are driven by your own personal captain and can hold up to three people, lasting roughly twenty minutes.

Paddlefish

Right next door to The Boathouse is Paddlefish– an iconic fixture of Disney Springs, dating back to 1977. This dining location has gone through many different names over its years, initially coined the ‘The Empress Lilly’– after Walt Disney’s widow, Lillian Disney. In 1996, it took the name Fulton’s Crab House, following a complete interior renovation, and eventually has landed on the title and aesthetic that we see today– Paddlefish.

Paddlefish was voted ‘The Best Seafood Restaurant in 2018’ by Orlando magazine and whether you’re dining for brunch or dinner, the offerings on this menu definitely won’t disappoint! The interior matches the newly updated exterior and boasts modern charm with an airy, yet nautical atmosphere. This restaurant also has beautiful views of Lake Buena Vista and when paired with quality seafood dishes– is the perfect romantic spot for your next date night!

If you love wine, you’ll be at heaven with a menu dedicated to the perfect pairing and over 140 wine selections offered by the glass. These pairings were all carefully constructed by one of the top wine sommeliers in the industry– George Miliotes. Whether you are just dropping in for light bites or would prefer to share in entrees family style, there is truly something for everyone at Wine Bar George.
