Sephora has announced that they will be closing their Disney Springs and Downtown Disney locations effective today, March 17. The popular make-up retailer posted to their Disney Springs location’s Instagram page to share details about the temporary closures.
Sephora’s online store will still be open for business and the company is waiving shipping charges through the end of March. A Sephora free shipping code (“FREESHIP”) was provided in the post. Sephora is part of the latest a string of businesses to temporarily close at both Disney World’s Disney Springs shopping area and Disneyland’s Downtown Disney district.
Sephora is not the only Disney Parks retail shop to be impacted by COVID-19. Disney has closed all Disney-owned properties in the two retail sections, including both World of Disney stores. ShopDisney.com will continue to operate normally.
Furthermore, AMC movie theatres around the country will be closing for 6-12 weeks. This includes the Disney Springs AMC location. Splitsville Luxury Lanes bowling alley has also just announced its temporary closure due to the coronavirus outbreak.
In addition to entertainment facilities, numerous restaurants have issued temporary closure notices. At Disney Springs, Raglan Road, The Boathouse, Jaleo, and Homecomin’ will all be shutting their doors as a result of the pandemic. On the West Coast, Black Tap Craft Burgers & Beer, Naples Ristorante, Catal, and La Brea Bakery will all be closing their Downtown Disney locations until further notice.
As of right now, all stores, entertainment venues, and restaurants are scheduled to reopen as quickly as possible. Many, like AMC, have stated they anticipate 6-12 week closures. Government agencies and healthcare officials are in contact with Disney executives regarding resort, park, and retail re-openings.
