As most people have seen or heard, California’s Governor Newsom put out a stay-at-home order effective the evening of March 19th, 2020. This decision was made to slow the spread of COVID-19, also known as Coronavirus, in order to protect the health and wellbeing of all California residents. What that means is all non-essential operations are to be shut down temporarily. The only services that are to remain open are gas stations, pharmacies, grocery stores, farmers markets, food banks, convenience stores, take-out and delivery restaurants, banks, and laundromats/laundry services.
Anywhere that could typically have a public gathering will be closed until further notice. This includes the Disneyland and Disney California Adventure parks and all of its hotels, The Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian Hotel, and Paradise Pier Hotel. Disney’s Bob Iger even sent a message out early today in response to California’s Coronavirus stay-at-home orders.

How This Affects Disneyland

So what does this mean for the reopening of Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA? There has yet to be a timeline as to when these stay-at-home orders are to be lifted. It is very likely that one of the deciding factors is when social distancing can be stopped. Though Disneyland Resort initially released that they would be closed from March 14th-31st, 2020, sources say that the stay-at-home orders could last up to a month. This would extend the period of time that the Disney parksand hotels are closed.

When Will Disneyland Re-Open?

Disneyland Resort has not updated saying that they will remain closed longer that March 31st 2020, so hopes are high for guests and cast members that the parks will re-open on April 1st. The Disneyland Resort website still shows this information and has not been updated as of March 20, 2020.  Here’s everything we know about when the parks could potentially re-open.

Orange County, Florida has also extended its curfew for residents which could affect Walt Disney World Resort‘s re-opening timeline. May 10th is when officials from the CDC recommended that Americans should avoid gatherings of 50 or more until. Actions like this are to “flatten the curve” for the spread of the pandemic on a more broad scale.
We will continue to update Inside the Magic as more information regarding Disney park closures becomes available. Stay healthy and safe, everyone.
