Well, if this the case..Why is this still part of the parks as in “Splash Mountain”. They can zippidy dooda all the way with our hard earned money there ..I don’t hear any complaints about that ride at all, even though it’s based around the very movie thats being talked about… Just my opinion..
I would think that the reason Disney wants to be non-controversial is that they don’t want to draw negative attention to themselves. There is just no way to avoid that in today’s society. By going back on their statement that all Disney content will be on Disney+, they are disappointing and even angering many people. What other movies are going to be excluded besides Song of the South? If Disney would just put them on Disney+, the hype would die down and people would forget about it. Put a disclaimer on it if you must, but Song of the South and other content is part of our nation’s and the Disney company’s history. You can’t white wash that. I would much rather use the movie as a conversation point to teach children about how times and attitudes change than pretend it never happened. You have a choice of what content you view. If the idea of possible stereotypical portrayals offends you, stick to newer content from our “more enlightened” time.
Why still have focus on movies that are racist? If you want to watch them, do so on your own. You can find bootleg version of Song of the South out there in the universe. You can still find the versions of Lady and the Tramp that have the racist portrayal of Asians. Maybe Disney doesn’t want to focus on that part of their history, and is choosing to focus more on uplifting portrayals of minority groups.
