Christmas cards are a tradition many families love to share every year for the holidays. Some families will coordinate outfits and pick a special location to capture a sweet moment in their photo. While others take a funny approach to Christmas card pictures with hilarious photo fails, featuring their kids crying to show what real life looks like. However, this Florida mom just won the Christmas card game!

Cindy Simmons, a Disney Mom and radio personality from Orlando, FL has a very unique Christmas Card tradition. Ever since she and her mom beat breast cancer, she decided that being together as a family was something to be celebrated and remembered in the most epic way! And so, she did.

How the Simmons Christmas Card Tradition Started

Simmons shared about her experience beating cancer: “Once you go through something like that it just makes you go, ‘Let’s live life big,”.  Cindy also added: “Once that happened, I think our family perspective just changed, we wanted to create experiences for our family instead of worrying about just things.”

That is such an important reminder to us all as the holidays get hectic and we are overwhelmed with the busyness of life. Cindy’s Christmas cards show us how special it can be to stop and invest time with our loved ones. We love how she captures her family, Disney passion, and Christmas fun all in some of the most amazing pictures we’ve seen.

In a galaxy far, far away…

In 2015, she gathered the family, found a spot that looked like a galaxy far, far away, channeled the force, and decked out the crew in Star Wars gear!

Simmons captioned the photo with: “Seemed fitting to share our 2015 Star Wars Christmas card with Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker heading to theaters this week!”

The one that started it all

Cindy’s Christmas Card photo tradition started while her family was living in Atlanta. Here’s her first wild family photo taken in 2014:

Every year, I look SO forward to doing our family Christmas cards. ⁣ ⁣ We started in Atlanta with our awesome photographer friend @andy_brophy and make-up/hair girl @lindamargarita_co for three years. ⁣ ⁣ Then we moved to Florida and thanks to our sweet friend @mrs_courtneec choosing our family for a @disneyparksblog video, we met our new amazing photographer friend @fwhitlatch and awesome hair and make-up girl @meganmstylist. Every year, my dear friend @eberleinvite slays at designing them all!! ⁣ ⁣ This is year six and my only goal with these Christmas cards is to spread JOY. Please know that during today’s shoot we laughed so hard, we cried. Stranger Things for 2019

This year, Simmon’s family went with the trendy “Stranger Things” theme. A throwback to the ’80s with TONS of denim and very big hair. We love it!

“With ‘Stranger Things’ being such a big part of pop culture and VSCO girls being such a middle school phenom, we thought a cheesy nod to the ’80s would be a perfect way to go for this year’s family Christmas card,” Simmons said.

Back to Disney

In 2017, the Simmons family took to a Disney Resort, one of our favorites, especially for pictures! With Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort in the background, the beach at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, along with their vintage coordinated outfits, make this Christmas Card photo our runner-up favorite on their Christmas Card tradition list.

Practically Perfect in Every Way

But we left the best for last. This one is practically perfect in every way!

Capturing Cherry Tree Lane perfection, the Simmons family fully embodied the Banks with Cindy embracing her Poppins fabulousness flying away like magic. Swoon, Simmons family. Well done!

Cindy does a Facebook Live show every Wednesday called Coffee Convo Wednesdays you can watch on her Facebook page, Cindy Simmons. Each week, she goes live and shares tons of fun Disney news and Disney tips.

Her Disney fandom started at a young age. She grew up in southern California where she lived just 30-minutes away from the Disneyland Resort. Now, she lives in Orlando just 30-minutes away from the Walt Disney World Resort, so her Disney fandom has definitely not diminished one bit! She visits frequently and keeps her followers in the know with all the fun happenings at the resort.

We hope you enjoyed this family’s Christmas card tradition as much as we did! Do you have a special Disney Holiday tradition you love to celebrate? Let us know in the comments! We love to hEAR all about the pixie-dusted Christmas magic you add to your holiday season!
