I admire and respect Scorsese, but we’ll agree to disagree. What’s wrong with having a few good “theme-park” movies? Cinema doesn’t have to be the same, especially when his films can be different from his usual types. Hugo is nothing like Raging Bull or Shutter Island, but it adds variety to the movies. I think that’s why I accept the MCU, because that’s what makes moviegoing exciting. I love the variety.
Also, to correct you, Sean: he didn’t work on The Godfather. He worked on Goodfellas (which might be his best).
