It wasn’t exactly THE CHURCH that decided to do this… it was one guy who pranked his congregation. Isn’t that what was written?
Or it was a simple oversight. Some guy copied and pasted an online image of Obi Wan into a collage about Jesus, without realizing who it was.
Also, the article references “the image of a famous Star Wars character instead of the Son of Christ” (rather than the correct “Son of God”).
Ah, well. We all make mistakes.
Part of me wants to laugh bc i know a priest friend whose a star wars fan whom do this to see whom is paying attn or be ???
The popular image of Jesus that most of us are familiar with is based on Cesare Borgia, so, this seems to track.
