You can now fly the Millennium Falcon at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge at both Walt Disney World and Disneyland. However, neither of these attractions actually make it to the real skies. But now, Virgin Atlantic has brought the infamous hunk of space junk to the clouds on one of its Boeing 747 planes they themed after the famous spaceship.
The plane goes by the name “The Falcon” and is in tribute to the beloved ship from the “Star Wars” franchise. The plane was already part of Virgin Atlantic’s fleet. However, it was re-themed through the method of the company placing a Millennium Falcon decal measuring 44 meters long from end to end onto the side of the plane.
The decal is so big, it took a whopping 14,00 millimeters of ink to print it. If that isn’t enough perspective for how big this decal actually is, it’s also been said that the film used to create it could cover almost four tennis courts.
The re-theming of this place comes in celebration of the opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge at Walt Disney World as it will be used to transport passengers from London Gatwick to the planet of Batuu at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
To celebrate the new plane, Virgin Atlantic is holding a competition where two guests could win free airfare on “The Falcon” and the opportunity to experience Virgin Holidays’ “The Ultimate Virgin Holidays Star Wars Experience.” This new vacation package includes flights on the plane, a seven-night stay at Walt Disney World, one-hour private access to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, and a private Star Wars dinner experience.
To enter, just snap a photo of the plane and share it on your personal Instagram account and be sure to tag both Virgin Holidays and Virgin Atlantic with the hashtag #TheFalcon.
