Star Wars fans….REJOICE! This week is the world-famous San Diego Comic-Con which means we can expect plenty of exciting annoucements. Some news has broken already about an upcoming Star Wars project. Kylo Ren is arguably the best character of the new trilogy but is still shrouded in mystery. Hopefully this December we will be getting a ton of answers, and not just because of “The Rise of Skywalker” hitting theaters, but also because of a new mini-series of comic books.

Kylo Ren

Star Wars And Marvel are teaming up again (naturally) to bring us a mini-series around Kylo Ren that will finally give us answers to questions we have regarding him and The Knights of Ren. We first got a glimpse of the Knights of Ren in Rey’s flashback in The Force Awakens, ever since this moment fans have been speculating as to who they are, what they’ve done, and where they came from. The new four-part series is going to be called “Star Wars: The Rise of Kylo Ren.” Though we don’t know much about it just yet, the art seems to give us some insight as pictured below.

The Rise of Kylo Ren

You can clearly see the Knights of Ren here standing behind Kylo in what appears to be an array of armor. I think it is safe to assume that we will be getting some sort of backstory of the relationship between the Knights of Ren and the man himself, Kylo Ren. The series will be written by Charles Soule who is already well known in the Star Wars comics fandom for doing great work with other characters such as Poe Dameron, Lando, and even Darth Vader. Now while I am very excited about this line of comics I do see a potential issue. For people who don’t read the comics, getting answers in a comic instead of a film could be troublesome.

Between the opening of Rise of the Resistance at Star Wars Galaxy’s Edge in Walt Disney World and The Rise of Skywalker, December is shaping up to be a pretty big month for Star Wars fans. As an avid reader of the comics, I can’t wait for this one to come out right before the movie. I’ll leave you with the words from the author himself

As just announced, I am writing The Rise of Kylo Ren a limited series comic launching in December just before Episode 9. You know the one story everyone’s dying to see, about Kylo and the Knights of Ren? That’s this. You’re not ready (hell, I barely am.) – Charles Soule.

Stay tuned to Inside the Magic as I’ll be sure to do a review as soon as the issue is out!
