We’ve been waiting for Pixar Pier to be complete ever since it opened in summer 2018. And now, Disney has finally revealed a sneak peek of Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, the final Pixar Pier attraction opening this summer, and we can’t wait for our chance to experience it.
This attraction will be the final piece of the Pixar Pier puzzle and join Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff in the Inside Out Headquarters neighborhood of the pier. Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, which Disney announced opens later this month, will take guests on a ride aboard eight Memory Movers to help Riley’s emotions (Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust, and Fear) sort out her memories. It’s clear from the ride description and sneak peek photos that fans who love the “Inside Out” film will enjoy this attraction, but those just looking for a fun, relaxing ride on Pixar Pier will love it, too.
Disney also shared that Academy Award-winning composer Michael Giacchino created five music tracks, one for each of the emotions, which will play during the ride. Fans of the Incredicoaster (the attraction formerly known as California Screamin’ before Paradise Pier was reimagined) will recognize Giacchino’s musical talents from the coaster’s soundtrack. Incredicoaster feels like an entirely new attraction, and the music and theming definitely set it apart from California Screamin’, so we imagine it will be the same case for Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind.
Those who remember the Flik’s Flyers attraction at a bug’s land at Disney California Adventure will recognize the familiar ride vehicles of Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind, but we must admit that this looks like an entirely different attraction. While the general ride concept is the same, the new theming, bright colors, and immersive nature of this attraction’s location on Pixar Pier make Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind feel fresh and exciting.
Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind will open later this month on Pixar Pier.
