$14 Million? That’s nothing.
My hope: Gut Autopia, Nemo, the people mover, the Launch Bay/Carousel of Progress. Untangle the monorail. Build a giant show building underground which can be reconfigured as needed. Revitalize Tomorrowland with Marvel’s sci-fi roots. Iron Man motion ride. A SHIELD tour (like the FBI tour in DC) where guests get accidentally sprayed with Terrigen mist and then must be evaluated for their new powers. (Kinda like Test Track at EPCOT, mixed with the SFX ride at Universal.) You leave with a tailored profile of your new abilities. Maybe you design your suit/uniform. Maybe you get some weird mental power, like the ability to make people hunger for certain foods. For $50, a cast member draws the New You on a comicbook cover. Or you can order a custom costume.
That “Marvel Universe” area would be about half of Galaxy’s Edge, but would be multi-level: retail, immersion, and lines above ground, attractions underground.
Yes, Galaxy’s Edge was the first upgrade Disney has done in decades that was up to “only Disney could do it”, Disney standards. Now is not the time for them to backslide and go back to half-baked, underfunded minor re-themes. Gut Tomorrowland and do it right. Maybe keep Star Tours and Astroblaster, maybe… but the rest can go. Build a fully themed land to replace the current hodgepodge of re-themed and badly painted garbage that Tomorrowland became after decades of neglect.
Refurbish Space Mountain to operate more like the one in Disneyland Paris.
Disney is ruining Disney parks for me. Marvel and Star Wars need their own parks or a shared park. Marvel and Star Wars doesn’t fit with the Disney type fantasy they got going with the existing parks.
