What I think would be really awesome is an award that could be given to greeters (or resort cast members in general), perhaps once a quarter, in his honor, something to remind them the impact that they have on the lives of the people that come home to Disney.
Tried to sign the petition but you can only sign if you are an American. That’s a little short-sighted. Richard was loved by people from all over the world and we would like to show our support for this memorial too!
Richard met us on our honeymoon 26 years ago and told us a warm joke about the 3 rings of marriage: the engagement ring, the wedding ring, and then the… suffer-ring. He laughed so sweetly. We sought him out for a photo and conversation every year that we returned. ❤️
I didnt meet him at grand flo myself but when he came w his family at the ride i was working back and the day. And through ent events when friends invited me! What a charming and lovely man he is what disney is all about so sad to hear about his passing! I hope the angels love his music as much as we all did!
He was a Huge part of that extra magic that you experience at Disney. I had the privilege of talking with him a few times during our visits. And he just embodied everything Disney. I hope they will honer him, because he truly was deserving it. We will miss him on our future visits.
They have something in play now call Service from the Heart is a quality award but I’m sure they could come up with something more on the lines of the cast roll , Disney is a amazing place to work why because it’s never work when you love what you do
We visited Grand Floridian for years and each time we made a point to stop and see Richard. He used to hand out roasted chestnuts which reminded us of winters up North. It was amazing and so pleasing to see him love what he does. He loved the guests and I think he loved Disney and tried to make it a special place for all guests. We’ll miss you, Richard!
I agree that is a great way to keep his memory going and what an impact it would make. I was a cast member and it was the little things that I knew I was doing a great job!! its those memories that make me love DISNEY so very much!!!

His family has made it known that they do not want this, lets respect their wishes as this is probably still difficult for them.

Where do you see that his family doesn’t want this? I am a Grand Nephew of his and I would love to see a statue in his honor there.

I worked with him. He wouldn’t want attention for him doing his job.

I think it’s an awesome idea. I never had the opportunity to meet Richard, but I can tell he touched the lives of many people.

He was a treasure and dearly missed.

This is a great idea and Disney should honor such an amazing person. He escorted me on my wedding day and gave it that extra magical Disney touch!!

Instead of a statue, they should make a butterfly garden near the front entrance.

I m happy to hear that. Richard was a beautiful part of our lives, if only in conversations, a wonder man.

A nice thought but rather disappointing that a politically partisan petition org is being used. Consider iPetitions next time.
