The 91st Academy Awards took place on Sunday, February 24 in Hollywood, and “Black Panther” was the big winner for Disney/Marvel Studios this year.

“Black Panther” took home the awards for Best Production Design, Best Costume Design, and Best Original Score. The film also made history as the first superhero movie to be nominated for Best Picture, though it ultimately lost to “Green Book.” Still, it’s an impressive list of wins and nominations for one of the biggest blockbusters of 2018. Another noteworthy win went to Disney-Pixar’s “Bao,” which took home the award for Best Animated Short.

Disney’s “Mary Poppins Returns” was nominated in several categories and was a contender for Best Original Score and Best Original Song (“The Place Where Lost Things Go”). In the end, “Black Panther” won Best Original Score and “Shallow” from “A Star is Born” was the winner of Best Original Song. However, viewers were treated to Bette Midler performing “The Place Where Lost Things Go” during the ceremony, with a Mary Poppins-inspired intro from Keegan-Michael Key.
