Walt Disney World Resort has so much to offer guests of all ages, from amazing theme parks to unforgettable dining experiences and every magical moment in between. We absolutely love maximizing our time whenever we visit Walt Disney World, and one of the ways we do that is by visiting the Disney water parks during our vacation.

We know what you may be thinking: what’s so unique about a water park at Walt Disney World? The Disney magic, of course! Florida can often be pretty hot and humid, and when you’re on vacation you probably want to find as many ways to beat the heat as possible. Disney water parks are incredibly themed and offer loads of fun and relaxation for everyone in your party. It’s no wonder we keep visiting them time and time again!

With epic water slides and relaxing lounge areas, Disney water parks are amazing places to visit, no matter your age. Here are five reasons to spend time at a Walt Disney World water park on your next vacation.

1. You can choose between two immersive themes

Walt Disney World offers two themed water parks with different immersive environments. If you only have the chance to visit one water park on your next vacation, then you can choose between Blizzard Beach, themed after a one-time ski resort that melted into a watery wonderland, and Typhoon Lagoon, themed after a tropical island paradise.

Each of the water parks completely immerses you in a whole new world of fun and adventure. Whether you’re taking a ski lift to an epic water slide or dropping in for a surf lesson, there’s plenty of fun for everyone in these two water parks. You’ll have a blast no matter which park you visit. Just take a look at what each water park has to offer to decide which one sounds best for your party.

2. The attractions are just as good as ones found in the theme parks

Just as we mentioned, the two Walt Disney World water parks are immersive and fun-filled, and each offers attractions that are just as good as the four Walt Disney World theme parks. Blizzard Beach and Typhoon Lagoon have epic water slides and unique experiences that you can’t find anywhere else on Disney property.

Each water park has some pretty awesome attractions, but check out a couple of our favorites. At Blizzard Beach, guests can take a ride on one of the tallest water slides in the world: Summit Plummet. And at Typhoon Lagoon, guests can take a ride on Gang Plank Falls, a thrilling 300-foot water slide through waterfalls, caverns, and rapids. If you want thrills and fun, the water parks are where you should go!

3. There’s no better place to beat the heat

It’s true: Florida is hot. And when you’re on vacation, there’s a chance the heat may get the best of you and you may feel as though you need to take more breaks than you had originally anticipated. But Disney water parks are the best places to beat the heat while at Walt Disney World. You can chill out in the lazy rivers, take a ride down a water slide in between sunbathing, and eat cold ice cream on your lunch break. What could be better?

4. You can visit after hours

The opportunity to visit the parks after hours is something that keeps us excited about Disney water parks time and time again. Disney is bringing back H2O Glow Nights at Typhoon Lagoon, and we couldn’t be more hyped. On select nights in summer 2019, Disney is hosting after-hours beach parties in the evenings in Typhoon Lagoon. Guests can experience the water park’s attractions with little to no wait, meet their favorite “Toy Story” characters, participate in awesome dance parties, and dine on some of Typhoon Lagoon’s delicious food. How cool is that?

5. The water parks aren’t just for kids

That’s right: water parks are for adults, too! Both Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach offer fun for everyone, but there are some attractions that are especially fun for adults. You can take surf lessons at Typhoon Lagoon, and both water parks offer alcoholic beverages for adults 21 and over. No matter your age, there is plenty of fun and adventure at both water parks, and we suggest visiting even if you’re on a kid-free vacation.

Recently, Disney announced an adults-only area at Typhoon Lagoon that lasted from Christmas to New Year’s. It’s unclear if this adults-only area will return in 2019, but we hope to see more adult-friendly experiences at the water parks in the future. But whether or not they bring back an adult-exclusive area to the water parks, each water park offers plenty of places to relax in between the fun.

If you were debating whether to add a day at the water parks to your next Disney vacation, now’s the time to do it! For more information on Walt Disney World water parks and to receive a no-obligation vacation quote from an Authorized Disney Vacation Planner, contact Academy Travel here.
