The winds in the east have brought a treat for “Mary Poppins” fans! Belgian fashion brand Kipling has teamed up with Disney to create a limited-edition Mary Poppins Returns collection of backpacks, handbags, totes, pouches, pen cases, and collectible keychains.
The 18-piece collection includes whimsical designs inspired by characters and imagery from both the original 1964 film and the upcoming sequel, “Mary Poppins Returns,” which opens in theaters on December 19, 2018. Prices for the collection range from $19 – $169, so there’s something for every Poppins fan’s budget.
One of the key pieces in the collection is Kipling’s take on Mary Poppins’ iconic carpet bag. This style is designed to appear structured while maintaining the soft, lightweight feel that’s signature to the Kipling brand. As a final touch, each of their modern carpet bags are adorned with a Mary Poppins silhouette keychain.
Lead designer Christine Lee explains, “Our team was inspired by the supercalifragilisticexpialidocious spirit during the design process, focusing on creating a collection of bags that encapsulates the whimsy and playfulness of Mary Poppins in a fresh and modern way.” The collection does just that with colorful kite motifs, printed floral details, and appliques inspired by the beloved Disney character.
