When is comes to iconic animated characters, Disney certainly has no shortage. Amongst those iconic characters is the bear of little brain, Winnie the Pooh, who ironically enough has shared a great deal of wisdom over the years.
With another adaptation of the iconic bear and all of his furry friends from the Hundred Acre Wood coming to theaters this week, you might be wondering just how much of that lovable Pooh wisdom will leap right off the pages of the books from A.A. Milne and onto the big screen for Disney’s “Christopher Robin.” The answer is quite a bit.
Here are four Winnie the Pooh quotes that were used in “Christopher Robin”:
1. “What day is it?”
“What day is it?” asked Pooh
“It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
“My favorite day,” said Pooh.
The silly old bear may not be very familiar with a calendar, but he certainly has a very sunny outlook on life. This iconic quote is sure to put a smile on anyone’s face. In the film, the conversation is had between Pooh and Christopher Robin instead of Piglet.
2. “I don’t feel very much like Pooh today.”
“I don’t feel very much like Pooh today,” said Pooh.
“There there,” said Piglet. “I’ll bring you tea and honey until you do.”
This quote sneaks into the movie as it transitions from one scene to the next, but it highlights the beautiful friendship between Pooh and Piglet, and it reminds us just how innocent they both are.
3. “What I like doing best is nothing.”
“What I like doing best is Nothing.”
“How do you do Nothing,” asked Pooh after he had wondered for a long time.
“Well, it’s when people call out at you just as you’re going off to do it, ‘What are you going to do, Christopher Robin?’ and you say, ‘Oh, Nothing,’ and then you go and do it. It means just going along, listening to all the things you can’t hear, and not bothering.”
This quote may be cheating a bit, because it is said by Christopher Robin and not Pooh, but it’s too important to leave out. In fact, this quote is essential to the plot of the entire movie, and it’s a great reminder to try to live a stress-free life.
4. “People say nothing is impossible.”
“People say nothing is impossible, but I do nothing every day.”
This is perhaps my personal favorite Pooh quote (probably because I relate to it so much). It perfectly demonstrates Pooh’s trademark lack of understanding and unwavering sunny optimism all in one beautiful sentence.
You can see all of these iconic Pooh quotes make it to the big screen when Disney’s “Christopher Robin” comes to theaters August 3. And be sure to check out our review of the new movie here.
