VIDEO: Pixar-Pal-A-Round and Boardwalk Games get animated overhaul in Pixar Pier at Disneyland Resort

Disney California Adventure‘s Paradise Pier area opened with the park in February of 2001, and along with it came the Sun Wheel and Games of the Boardwalk. Both of these attractions were then rethemed in 2009 (as Mickey’s Fun Wheel and the newly-Disney-character-themed Games of the Boardwalk). And now with Pixar Pier having officially launched at DCA this past weekend, they are now known as Pixar Pal-A-Round and Games of Pixar Pier.

During the media preview of Pixar Pier late last week, I had the opportunity to spend some time riding Pixar Pal-A-Round and playing each of the Games of Pixar Pier. Fortunately after the overhaul all of these experiences have retained the boardwalk-style fun that originally inspired their inclusion at Paradise Pier, with fun new Disney/Pixar twists.

WATCH PIXAR PAL-A-ROUND FULL RIDE:

As you can see in the video above, Pixar Pal-A-Round now features an individual Pixar character on each gondala. Familiar character voices guide guests to board and help with safety instructions. Other than those changes and a new color scheme, the ride remains essentially the same as it was previously, right down to the terrifying swinging option.

Games of Pixar Pier now features La Luna Star Catcher, WALL-E Space Race, and Heimlich’s Candy Corn Toss, in addition to Bullseye Stallion Stampede, which is a holdover from the previous revamp of the area. Winners receive various plush toys depicting characters and other elements from the animated shorts and feature films represented in the games.
