Disney’s live-action “Lady and the Tramp” remake taps “The LEGO Ninjago Movie” director Charlie Bean

Guests can delight in a charming Lady and the Tramp-themed scene, where two animated dogs playfully share a single spaghetti noodle at Tony’s Town Square Restaurant in Magic Kingdom. The pups’ noses touch as they recreate the iconic moment, complete with a flickering candle and pasta plate—capturing all the romance and whimsy of Charlie Bean’s live-action reimagining, right in the heart of Disney Parks magic.

Last month, we learned about some of the original projects Disney had planned for their direct-to-consumer streaming service. One of those projects was a live-action remake of the animated classic “Lady and the Tramp.”

Now, it looks like Disney has found the director for that upcoming film. Charlie Bean, director of “The LEGO Ninjago Movie,” has reportedly been tapped to direct the remake.

Charlie Bean, wearing glasses and smiling, sits next to “The Lego Ninjago Movie” logo and a Lego ninja figure against a vibrant green bamboo backdrop—an homage to the director’s connection to this animated adventure before he brought Lady and the Tramp to life for Disney fans.

The original “Lady and the Tramp” was released in 1955 and provided the iconic spaghetti dinner scene.

There is currently no specific release date set for the remake, but it is slated as a priority project for the streaming service which is set to launch in Fall 2019.
