One doesn’t usually associate winter time with attending water parks, but most of Central Florida’s water-based attractions are usually open year-round nevertheless. Unless severe weather conditions step in and make that an impossibility.

This week’s cold snap in Orlando– with temperatures near freezing– has forced the closures of Walt Disney World’s Typhoon Lagoon, SeaWorld Orlando’s Aquatica, and Universal Orlando Resort’s Volcano Bay through the end of the week, with the first two currently scheduled to reopen on Friday, and Volcano Bay set to welcome guests again this weekend.

Walt Disney World’s second water park, Blizzard Beach, is already closed for the season as it undergoes a scheduled refurbishment.

Apparently the weather will be so consistently cold in Orlando this week there’s a slight chance the area might see snow flurries, which would be a unique event indeed. Bundle up, Orlando. And stick to the dry rides for just a few days until the weather passes.
