Experience the ultimate cultural celebration as food, art and entertainment perfectly merge at Walt Disney World for the Epcot International Festival of the Arts 2018.
The festival first first came to Epcot last year and this year it’s bringing not only most of the same entertainment and live art offerings, but also the addition of exciting and inspiring new ones. For those who are not familiar with the relatively new event, the festival is an exciting and creative extravaganza that features phenomenal artists, gourmet fare, musical performances, stage productions and other amazing acts. Here is a look inside this creative experience.
To celebrate the kick-off this year’s festival, Broadway stars from Disney’s “Tarzan,” Kevin Massey and Jen Gambatese gave an intimate preview of the Epcot International Festival of the Art’s Disney On Broadway Concert Series. The duo, which performed in this past weekend’s show performed “The World Will Know” from the Disney Broadway musical “Newsies.”
WATCH – “THE WORLD WILL KNOW” FROM DISNEY’S “NEWSIES”
Upon walking around the park you can’t help but take in all of the stunning artwork on display. Around Future World and the countries of the World Showcase are a series of tents full of a vast amount of art that guests can experience and purchase. A great amount of the art featured includes different Disney characters and films.
In the Odyssey Festival Showplace is where guests can enjoy some interactive fun and the history of Disney animation. Here gusts can take part in paid and free creative experiences. Paid ($39) experiences in the Odyssey include:
- Sculpting a Mixed Media Action Figure
- Floral Arranging
A free and fun event the whole family can enjoy in the Odyssey is the Animation Academy. Here, guests can experience the magic of Disney animation in a drawing class taught by a real Disney Artist.
Seminars offered in the Odyssey, all of which are complimentary include:

- Artful Uses for Your Park Map
- The Art of Wood Carving
- The Power of Storytelling
WATCH – TRAILBLAZING LADIES OF DISNEY ANIMATION:
New to this year’s event is the addition of custom screen printed shirts by Emmy Ink. Visitors can pick from 12 different styles of shirts, with possibly more to come. These awesome shirts, which celebrate the festival, can be purchased at the Imagination Pavilion.
The event also includes a design your own scarf station. After selecting a few colors, a designer uses them to draw a design in water. Once the design is completed, the scarf is then placed into the water. When the scarf is removed from the water it features the print. This fun and creative experience can also be found at the Imagination Pavilion.
Some other fun experiences that guests can take part in around the park in celebration of Epcot International Festival of the Arts include special Artful Exclusives.
WATCH – FUN FESTIVAL OFFERINGS FROM EPCOT INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS:
Artful Photo Ops, located throughout World Showcase, these interactive Disney photo experiences let guests step into some of the most admired artwork from around the world. The pictures can be purchased and viewed in the Disney World app.
Art Walk, new to this year’s festival lets visitors discover unique and authentic cultural artifacts around World Showcase, while also creating their own artistic memories. Once guests pick up a Festival Passport they have all they need to take part in the artful experience.
While visiting each location along the Art Walk, guests can take a memory commemorating each stop. Located in the Festival Passport are pages that correspond to each stop located around the World Showcase.
Once guests approach these stops within the Art Walk, they will come across a palette that visitors are to rub against its corresponding page in the Festival Passport. Rubbing the page against the palette reveals a fun hidden image in the Festival Passport.

Other Artful exclusives guests can enjoy at the festival include:
- Expression Section – Located in the showcase plaza, guests can grab a paintbrush and join in on the fun as they help create a stunning and interactive wall mural.
- Chalk Art – New to this year’s festival, guests can discover the work of imaginative chalk artists inspired by great art and the world around them, located in Future World East.
Epcot International Festival of the Arts also features exciting entertainment options that are exclusive to the event. All of which continue with the overall theming of the festival by further celebrating the arts.
WATCH – INSIDE THE FESTIVAL’S ENTERTAINMENT OFFERINGS:
New to this year’s festival is Art Defying Gravity, located at the Fountain View Plaza, guests can enjoy a spectacle of thrilling strength acts that defy gravity and the imagination. Another exciting and fun entertainment offering at the Fountain View Plaza is Living Statues. Here, three stunning statues come to life. These living statues not only pose and move but also interact with guests.

Other offerings that can be seen at the Fountain View Plaza include:
- Nova Jazz – A performance that features classical music with a jazzy groove
- Visual Art In Performance – An onstage show presented entirely by a special guest visual artist.
The most musical and exciting of these offerings has to be the Disney On Broadway Concert Series. Performed nightly in the America Gardens Theater, this spectacular is an exciting showcase of Broadway talent performing songs from classic Disney films and Broadway shows, including: “Tarzan,” “Aladdin,” “Newsies,” and “Frozen!”
